Not a non paying bidder, but a buyer of the worst kind.
Won a pair of vintage Prada shoes, emailed me to say she lives in Canada ( I had stated in the listing I only ship to USA) and that she would be happy to pay for shipping ( listing had free ship).
No problem. I didn't have Canada blocked, so my bad.
Pays with e-check and after 9 days says she bought another pair of shoes and now doesn't think they will fit. Huh?
I sent detailed measurements and told her if she wished to cancel, okay. She declines.
About 3 weeks after I ship I get an email saying " I sent the shoes back". Really?!! Without discussing it with me first? Her reason being the shoes were "uncomfortable " . ( I have a no return policy )
I happened to be on vacation, so no one home. I just did not respond.
She opens a case saying shoes were uncomfortable, she sent them back, and I was claiming I didn't live at the address any more. Okay?
I responded that she mailed them to my house, without my knowledge while I was on vacation. I have no idea if they are there or not. Plus she was filing a false SNAD case, as shoes are uncomfortable is not the same as item not as described.
Called eBay and they closed the case. Said she was not eligible for buyer protection.
I go home tomorrow. I'm not sure what to do next. Assuming the shoes are there, should I give her a refund? Send them back to her?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Please direct me to a diffrent thread if this is wrong one.

I would refund her money just to get her off my back. If you send the shoes back to her she could leave you negative feedback and e-bay will not remove it. Really not worth the aggravation.

If they closed the case in the seller's favor, I do not think she can leave a negative feedback.
If they do arrive, you have a couple of options.
If you do not open it, you could return to sender.
If you open and they are not in the condition you sent them, and even if they are, you can let her know she needs to send you a prepaid label to return them to her.
You can refund her. If they are in perfect condition, refund the purchase price only.

Update to the nathalierosenblum2014 issue:
I finally got home, shoes were at a neighbors. I carefully split her mailing label, and...the box had NEVER BEEN OPENED!! WTH?
My label was still attached with no possible way she could have opened the box.
This is very disturbing as she stated in her SNAD case that the shoes were "defective" and " so uncomfortable she couldn't possibly wear them". She knew this how without ever opening the box? Wow!
I've decided to tell her they are her shoes so I will happily send them back when I receive a pre paid label. Done and blocked. What a nut!
Oh, and she can't leave any feedback since eBay closed the case in my favor.
I want to be fair, but jeez! She was totally trying to scam me!!

This runs contrary to something that happened to me last year. A PITB buyer had a problem with an item I sold them. I refunded their money AND told them just to keep the item, not to even bother returning it. The case was settled and closed in my favor.

End of story? Not quite.

When I spoke with someone at e-bay I asked if this person could still leave me negative feedback and they said yes. So of course I asked if it could be removed since the issue had been fully resolved and was told that they will only remove negative feedback if someone states something of a personal nature on the feedback. Period. Non negotiable.

But the bottom line was yes, a buyer can in fact leave negative feedback, even if you've done everything you're supposed to do with the case fully resolved in your favor.

I've been a power seller for over 15 years and have never had one negative or neutral feedback. E-bay tells me this is very unusual. But they still won't protect me as a seller from any potential nut jobs who just want to be a pain.

From what I understand now, if a case is found in favor of the seller, the buyer cannot leave a neg.

http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/feedback-removal.html

Part of it:
Feedback from a buyer is removed or adjusted automatically in the following situations:

  • A buyer is suspended for behavior we find warrants removing all negative or neutral Feedback or low DSRs left for sellers. If any member is suspended within 90 days of registration, all Feedback left by that member is removed.
  • A case is decided in a seller's favor.
  • There's a Global Shipping Program error. We may also remove or adjust low ship cost or ship time detailed seller ratings.
  • A buyer has shown a pattern of leaving disproportionately high rates of low Feedback or low detailed seller ratings.

That's horrible!! Unfortunately, if you resolve the case through the resolution center, do everything right to make the customer happy, they can still neg you.
The only reason this crazy buyer can't leave FB is because she was not eligible for buyer protection since she mailed the item back without contacting me or eBay first.
If you escalate the case and they find in your favor...they can't leave FB.
But if you bend over backward to make it right, they can!!! Doesn't seem very fair at all.
Sorry that happened to you.

Well that's good news!

Hi TPFer....I would like to know if it's safe to sell to an ebayer who keep his/her feedback private. I'm kinda iffy about it, esp she is from overseas.
Can I cancel her purchase since she has not pay for the items yet?
I tried to search her username in this thread but nothing came up.

Thanks for your input.

I've sold to numerous buyers with private feedback with no problem. And once an auction has ended, you have to have the buyer agree to cancel the transaction. Once they win, they are in the drivers seat.

Oh I see...Thank you audreylita.
I already stated that International buyer need to contact me 1st before purchasing the item and this time both of them did not. Also, I excluded the countries where they live as well when listed the items.
I never sell an item to an international buyer and I'm just afraid ended up having bad experience and have to spend a lot of time dealing with ebay and the buyer.
Did you experience this the first time selling item to an international buyer??

:confused1::confused1::confused1:.

I do not ship internationally and have all the countries blocked and it sounds like you've done the same.

Remember that e-bay now offers the Global Shipping Program and if you didn't opt out then you are part of it as well. This allows international buyers to bid on and purchase your item. There are facilities in the U.S. which is the shipping address you'll receive to ship to and you as a seller are only responsible for the items safe delivery to that address. The item is then forwarded to the buyer wherever they are located and e-bay bears the responsibility of safely completing the delivery. That buyer cannot leave you negative feedback if there is a problem with the e-bay portion of the shipment.
