I love this more than the orginal intended one! Wish I could have a tattoo, but I keloid scar and apparently it’s not a good idea![]()
I’m a slow healer and my piercings literally take years to fully epithelialize inside the hole. Sterling silver is not a good metal for healing piercings due to the other mixed metals in the alloy and the softness of the metal. Generally pro piercers will recommend titanium or special kinds of 14k gold that are alloyed to be hypoallergenic and body compatible.I used to have 7 but now only 2 left, mine got infected quite easily despite always wearing pure metal (sterling silver or platinum, but I am prone to getting infections, especially the oil glands) so I let them close up apart from the conventional 2. I did love my ear piercings but it simply wasn't worth the trouble, and let's face it, when the infection and swelling sets in, having an ear lobe or upper part of the ear the size of the ear, wasn't the best look, apart from the pain.
If you love ear piercings and have no problems, it can look totally fabulous.
I just posted about this. Screw backs or threaded can still unscrew themselves and get lost. The best system I’ve found so far is threadless! Neometal and anatometal brands from pro piercing shops. You should get some with screw backs! Try Etsy.

The neometal threadless system was a game changer for me for my second holes. They’re still not 100% healed but I like the system so much that I might just keep them in forever. I love how the backs are tiny and flat and flush to the skin, which makes them comfortable to sleep in and less likely to snag on things. Also they just look so much cleaner than having long posts with earnuts sticking out from the back of your ear. You can change the tops without changing the posts, and neometal has a large catalogue of designs using real gems and gold. (Editing to add that it’s actually BVLA with the fine jewelry tops/threadless ends. Neometal has some, but the cute stuff is mostly Bvla.) The styles are similar to Maria tash, but Maria tash uses threaded posts or push back studs. I don’t like threaded due to the possibility of earrings working themselves loose and getting lost. The trio diamond studs I have in my second holes are neometal with bvla tops.

I would check safepiercing.org to find an app certified piercer near you and see if they work at a shop that carries neometal, anatometal, or bvla. Also check bvla.com to find a local shop.Oh this is genius. I am having a hard time finding a place to buy them though.

Could be! Does the titanium post insert from the back of your lobe? And when you take them apart is the decorative front end like a stud with a teeny tiny bent post?Your studs are gorgeous! I wonder if mine are neometal or a similar system... the backs are flat and they are titanium.
