Thanks! I see 8 rings I must have, lol. Oh and the website is pearlmanjewelers.com. pearlmans.com is some personal family website. LOL. I really want the one with pink saphires. Ok. I am calling for prices.

I'm not married, but I tend to like bigger stones. I have a lemon quartz ring that is in a bezel setting and is an 8.5 mm stone- I actually like that size for an e-ring or an 8 mm! I would probably go w/ a colored stone or moissanite, so it would not likely be expensive as a diamond.

I've had some loose 6 mm round stones to have set as earrings and 6 mm is too small for me in a solitaire style. I think diamond weight would be around .75 for a 6 mm round, from what I can see on a quick search.

I guess I look hilarious. . . or fake :push:

No way, Swanky! Your ring looks stunning on your finger!

I guess for me, lifestyle dictated the engagement ring I chose. I work in a lab and wear gloves regularly so I didn't want a huge stone that would get in the way. It was important to me that the stone was high quality and ethically sourced.

That said, I am kinda starting to research what I want for an upgrade (if I decide to go for one). My e-ring is starting to look small on my finger :push:

Thanks y'all
Me too Contessa. . . looks more complete. I like the bands so much that now when DH asks me what I want next I find other things instead of getting that solitaire put into a more suitable setting! :push: Thanks!

I have tried rings on all the way up to 8ct center stones--which looked like a joke ring. The largest that looked good was 3ct in a solitaire, and even then good was not really the right word. Odd but not atrocious. I don't know how big I would go if given the greenlight and the funds to do so, but the quality would have to be there. I won't settle on cut quality, clarity and color (in that order) just to have a monster diamond.

i agree completely. in fact, i think it also depends on where you live and if you'd look ridiculous wearing something that large on your finger everyday.

my aunt, who lives in new york, has a 7 carat asscher diamond ring. and don't get me wrong, this thing is amazing, but it's TOO big. so big that it almost looks like a CZ. omg, if i wore that here in colorado i seriously would look ridiculous. but i also don't live in denver, where it's more common to dress up a little. but where i live, in a college town, not so much.

but, i also have a 3 carat pear e-ring that i typically wear everyday, but i am also very choosey with where i wear it. i don't wear it to my daughter's soccer or tennis matches, and of course, when i myself am playing tennis, i only wear a simple band, not my diamond.

but if i lived in new york city, something like that is more common or not such a shock, kwim? here? even when i'm wearing my diamond ring i'll see people's eyes bug out of their heads.

kind of embarrassing, really.

Personally, and no offense to anybody, but outrageously huge diamonds look tacky to me. I think a good size for your body is the key. My ring is a size 5.5 and its just over a caret, and good quality. Just a tiffany setting. I love it. I am happy with the size and I would never want something more than maybe 1.5 carets.. it would just be too big for me to be comfortable with.

^^no, I actually read comments on here pretty often where people say things like "if I went any bigger than this 1 crt it would just look silly on me!" or "my friend has 3 carats and it looks ridiculous on my finger"
I think it's because they aren't used to seeing that size on them, so it looks odd to them {?}

i think you're right with this, as well. my original e-ring was just under 2 carats, so even though that's not small by anybody's standards, i still wear a size 7 ring, so for me, it was perfect.

but when i received my mother's 3 carat e-ring last year, at first, i felt really uncomfortable wearing it because i wasn't used to such a large center stone, but once i wore it everyday, i loved it. and knowing it was my mom's ring and will someday be my daughter's ring means the world to me now.

believe me, you definitely get used to it. LOL
