😊 Are the people who carry Dooney handbags just nicer..
or do our handbags bring us joy and make us happier?
I've had the same experiences. When I compliment someone on a Dooney,
or they comment on the one I'm carrying,
we often chat a bit and even share comments about our collections or our
favorite style. And we both walk away with a smile.
I don't like obvious branding either. I will often remove hangtags,
if I can. Understated and elegant is my look (in my fantasy image),
so I do the best I can in real life. Of course, I love color, so I'm not sure
if I might have multiple personality images. Good thing there are so many
handbag options. 🤣 And I can't yet explain why I've bought some of the
pattern canvas Dooney bags, or even a few Gretta initial print in brown or navy.
I guess I'm not immune to the effects of marketing, especially when there
is a sale involved.
I do try to choose my handbag of the day for the
situations I will be encountering.... 'business' meeting call for a more tailored
and subtle handbag (either a tote or satchel, depending upon how much I
will be carrying). Image is part of the reason, not flashing a logo, but
reinforcing my competent business person image, rather than little old lady
or silly female that can be talked into something. It's probably all in my mind,
but it works for me. 🙄 Once I start talking, they will know who they are
dealing with, until then, they will probably think what they want.
Social situations or just running errands give me the
freedom to play with color or pattern as I coordinate my ensemble of the day.
I just want the combination to look intentional, no conflicting patterns or
too many colors. It's all for me, no one else notices or cares, I'm sure.
