So as I was checking out with my pale blue mini, wham it was gone off of dooney.com. Went over to I❤️D and not there either. The luxe leather sale on I❤️D had just ended minutes before I got to the site…. DAGNABIT!

LJ inspired me with one of her purchases that she shared with us. Thank you L.J For sharing pics of this classic bag! I wanted this bag, it made my heart sing. I went ahead and made my first few purchases of 2024…
coming soon live and not memorex:
While you are still working, you can keep buying handbags. 😁
And as one sale ends, a new one will begin.... just have a little patience.

So I had a Florentine question? I heard someone say on YouTube that Florentine leather starts off pebbled/textured and thru the tanning process it is somehow smoothed out,👀👀👀😳. The claim was that over time the smoothest leather will revert back to its texture/pebble👁️👁️👁️🥺. So my question for everyone that has Florentine from way back, is this true? Has any of your smooth Florentine leather reverted to textured, wrinkled, pebbled leathe?🧐😕🙁☹️🤔😶

To the best of my knowledge, and in my experience with Florentine leather over
about 20 years, that claim is not true. A specific piece of Florentine leather may have
more or less texture or pebbling, based on the natural grain of the leather.

In later years, Dooney claimed that they were making the Florentine leather handbags
lighter, in response to customer requests. I don't know if they used thinner pieces
of leather, less trim and hardware on the styles, or added some tumbling to the
process to soften (and therefore relax the leather). But I do not think the leather is
stretched or processed in such a way that it would be unstable over time.

Other smooth leathers may have surface treatments to remove marks and natural
pebbling. But I do not believe Dooney does that with the Florentine leather.

I don't know what other brands do.

Negative.

Ordered a Nano satchel in Florentine, and once again, I had to contact Dooney to ship the bag. They only seem to ship my orders fast if it has multiple items in the order, if it's just a solo item then they seem to take longer regardless of how much the item cost. I got it today, and it's someone's return again. I have no issue with a returned bag, but this bag has problems. No dust bag, no registration card - both not that big of a deal to me, but the biggest issue is that it can't fold down to its smile because it looks like there is glue that hardened on both sides where it's supposed to fold. Also, the same sides with the hardened glue it looks like the leather is chipped or rubbed off. Checked the website and of course Black is out of stock now. 😑

Or does anybody know how to remove glue off of the bag?

On some leathers, a gum eraser might work.... one of those old fashion kind...
very soft. But.... I would be concerned about it affecting the texture of the Florentine
leather. So, if you try anything.... be very gentle.

Sorry your bag is disappointing. We've all been there. Only you can decide if it
should be returned.

Update: So the glue was kind of gunky and rubbery so I was able to peel some of it off. I found the registration card in one of the pockets I missed. I was massaging the side that was feeling a bit hard and was able to get a smile from the bag. Hopefully with use, the leather will soften up.

Here she is all stuffed up. Also a pic of my Nano triplets.

The Chestnut. It’s the only Florentine bag I have in that color plus, it was the first Nano I got.
Love the chestnut! It’s so rich and luxe. Enjoy your new triplets. They look so fun and cute😊 😊 😊
