That would be great. I would love to have a made in America satchel in my collection. I guess you can call and inquire. I’ll be calling tomorrow about my pre order and I will ask if you can request a made in America bag and which bags are made in America…

Thanks! That would be great to find that info out!

Oh I also remember reading something about the tassels having a different color in them, if the bag is American made. Like you said about the different color leather inside. I see on my micro, the tassels have green in them.

Unless I've seen the bag in person with a Made in USA tag
I haven't seen any promotion of the fact that that particular bag
was Made in USA. The serial # usually starts with the letter B,
I think.

Over time they have done some capsule Made in USA collections....
the small Flo Satchel in Florentine leather, some in Ostrich,
and sometimes the same style fold over satchel style
in some other specialty leathers, like the Samba collection.

But I've never seen the Made in USA designation on ILD in any
item description. And I'm not sure I've seen it on Dooney.com
in the last few years. And it can be confusing, because some
styles, like the small Flo satchel was primarily made out of the
country, but sometimes a few were made here.

In the olden days, the All Weather Leather collection was Made in
the USA. I don't know when they stopped.

There may be styling differences if the same bag is made in both
the USA and out of the country.... like the interior collar or the
back of the tassels. And originally, the bottom of the
small Flo satchel was different on the 2 versions, but that is no
longer true. But I think the best way to tell is the serial #
and any sewn in tags regarding country of origin.

Whenever I had a choice, I always purchased a Made in USA bag.
Sometimes just that fact was justification for me.

So, I have a few more days until I can make a post. But I have a burning question.

What D&B bags are still made in the USA?

For reference, 95% of my collection is vintage D&B bags. I currently have 2 Florentine satchels, 1 large & 1 micro.

When I first got my Florentine satchel, I was taken aback that it was made in China. I thought I bought a fake. Anyways, I’ve come to find out that D&B bags are now made in Italy, Mexico, China, Vietnam. And I know the letter on the serial code corresponds to where the bag was made. The serial number in mine starts with J (China).

Some have said straight from the D&B site and/or flagship store are US made. The Florentines that are made in the US, have a different colored leather inside (not the green). Honestly, the information is all conflicting. I’m hoping someone here can clarify this for me. Thanks!
I bought a lot of my Florentine Satchels in the Dooney retail boutique (years ago). Most of them were not made in the USA. Very few, all small satchels, never other sizes, were
Made in USA. I always looked for the tag.

A number of years ago there was a line of small Flo satchel styles done in
Samba leather (a soft pebbled leather). They were available at the outlets and
on ILD. They were Made in USA.

There are no rules to tell by style or sales channel.
Only the serial # and country of origin tag are 'proof'.

For the Florentine small satchels, the ones I've seen Made in USA have
a red leather interior collar under the zipper and red leather backing
the tassels. The ones made in other countries have green suede in
these places.

O M G the color on this bag is absolutely stunning!!!
D&B has really outdone themselves with this line.

*if anyone on here has this color, is it hard to keep clean?

I treat all my light color Florentine handbags with extreme care.
The surface of the leather will absorb dirt and stains.
I'm reluctant to treat a new bag because Dooney advises against it.

So personally, I reserve the beautiful pale blue and Ecru and
bone Florentine bags for the days when I can take them from the
house to the car to someone's house or a restaurant. I don't take them
to the grocery or on other shopping errands.
And when I get home, I check them over and use a soft cloth to remove
surface dirt. Oce something gets embedded into the leather, it's
very hard to get the leather clean.

The smoother the surface of the Florentine leather, the more fragile it is.
The more pebbled Florentine leather will repel scratches and soil more easily.

I've never used a leather cleaner or conditioner on a light colored Florentine
handbag. But others have, so maybe they will give you their input.

I did get a bubble gum florentine wallet from TU. (sighs) TU described it as in "excellent condition" LMAO!!! It was absolutely filthy when I received it and there's some water stains on it. They offered to let me return it, but I really liked the color. Plus, I grabbed it with a bunch of credits and literally paid $7 + their shipping for it. I decided to keep it, and try to clean it up. This color is not one to easily clean, that's for sure. I got some of those leather wipes, and tried it in a small section on the inside, it came out fine. I used the rest all over the wallet, and it cleaned up, it's definitely brighter. But what you said about the leather fragility, is dead on.

so that's green suede. in the made in America version everything that's green suede on the bag you have now will be red leather, in the tassels and the inside collar.

you really lucked up on that wallet. it looks great after you cleaned it. very hard to find that color. I don't have any light colored Florentine. I'm to clumsy and I don't want to ruin it...

I found a made in America satchel on eBay - linked for reference.

mushroomNgrass & lavenderjunkie were right about the red leather inside the bag, and red suede in the tassels.

Also, there looks to be a made in America tag on the outside with the other D&B price tags.

look what I've found... large Logan and it is HUGE.....

Guess it's time to bring out my black Flo too!

I have 1 small Dooney D/S, it's an Ostrich embossed leather. And yes, it's small.
I can just pack my stuff inside (standing up), but I really like a bag with more room.
I won't be buying another small D/S.
The small Logan however isn't small. There must have been a larger size one,
although I never saw it. I have not trouble getting my stuff in the small Logan.
If you measure your cell phone, I'll measure my old one (which is large) and then make sure it fits. I don't remember having any trouble, but I'll double check if you want.

The usable space of handbags depends not only on the dimensions, but also how much
of the space is usable. In some bags with snap closures, like the Brenna and Barlow,
and the small Russel,
I find the upper portion of the bag isn't really usable. So for me, the bags hold less
than if they had zip closures across the top. I don't like to leave bags open
at the top since I don't want to have to hunt for my things when the bag
falls off the seat (which it often does).

Also a structured bag will hold less than a soft unstructured one.
Often hobos, like the Twist Strap Hobo
or the Flo satchels hold a lot of stuff even those with narrower bases,
since the sides expand to fit your things, even if you lose space
folding over the top.
Yes on the Twist Strap and Twist Sac shoulder hobos carrying more with narrower base. . I just changed into my Teal one. I do use wristlets to keep things easy yet can also throw things in there in a rush and find them ok.

Your wallet andThat MIA satchel is gorgeous! Dooney wasn't clear in the past with the Made In America satchel differences and some thought they bought a satchel with a defect (red lining, tassels). I love the Navy and the Black with the pop of red.

Here is an example of the navy looking black. My Buckley is navy but looks black. My birthday satchel underneath it is navy and looks blue…

Thank you for doing this! Yes, this was my point a few posts ago. They are both beautiful truly, but as I have lots of black, I want my 1st Navy bag to have the blue tinge.

Buckley is so stunning and unique.

The Pale Blue is the only color I haven't lightly conditioned. I agree with you on the surface of the Pale Blue and Ecru and just being extra careful. So far so good!
