Yes, I have purchased more than 1 handbag in more than 4 colors! Sometimes even a variety of shades of a color (like multiple shades of blue- navy, royal, light, turquoise).
And I've done it more than once. For some reason, at the time, it was important for me to have the color and shade that perfectly matched items in my wardrobe.
I realize that was not necessary.... styles have changed as have my fashion needs.
But in some styles I have a rainbow of colors.

But at a higher level.... If you are certain the style of handbag really works for you,
I see nothing wrong with purchasing multiple colors. Just don't go down
the rabbit hole of multiple shades of the same color. And be sure you have carried
the handbag style enough to know it really works for you. And keep your multples to
1 or 2 styles, the ones you reach for most days of the week.

I'd categorize a handbag collection by function.... work handbags (which may include totes), weekend /casual or errand handbags, nicer going out handbags, and maybe even
dressier handbags (depending on your lifestyle). Each category might have mulitple
styles. For some categories you want to have multiple color covered.... but not in each
style in that category. Does that make sense?

Congratulations on winning your bids... on finding the treasures and the right prices.
yes. Yes. YESSSSSS. It makes sense. I should not even think about getting that 4th large Florentine satchel in bordeaux. It’s a bag I love and I know works for me. It’s nwt and very rare to see that color nwt. I carry my chestnut often. Steel blue I will save for the spring and summer. Just got the navy and I will carry her to death when it’s not raining. with these 2 coming I don’t know… at this point I feel like I would neglect my chestnut in favor of the Bordeaux. In fact I know I would because I love a burgundy bag. She’s soooooo beautiful. I have always bought 2 of the same items in different colors if I love it, never know if you will find it again you know?

rare colored items i will try to get in a neutral plus the rare color. I STILL don’t have any black dooneys and I feel like I can find them at anytime. When the rare gems pop up I’m thinking will I use it? yes I will. Can I afford it? yes I can. Will I regret it? probably not as I can always sell it Or gift it. I’ll think about it today, sleep on it and if it’s there when I wake up in the morning I’ll get it. The price has been lowered and the seller sent me an offer equivalent to what I paid at the outlet for my birthday large navy satchel. If I could haggle her a little lower I’d be happy. Thank you.

Water spots and Florentine and Toscana handbags....
really a mystery to me. In my experience... some bags have
survived water spots with no remaining evidence and others still have
spots long after the water has dried.

I don't know if it's the specific piece of leather and how it was manufactured
(dyes and process), or the mineral content of the water that dripped on it, or the color of the bag, or even the life history of that specific handbag (how much has it been
handled, was it every conditioned or treated with water repellant)?
Every piece of leather is unique...from start to finish. Even details of the
tanning and dying process can vary, especially with vegetable tanning and
more natural dyes. We often see color variation from batch to batch, and
differing thickness of the leather, or pebbling. Why should we be surprised
that different bags react differently to water spots?

And that's not even getting into the discussion of marketing terminology...
smooth or vachetta leather, undyed, natural, or dyed! Even a pebbled leather
handbag which is very water resistant my show water spots on
the trim that is smooth vachetta leather. If the vachetta is undyed,
the spots are obvious. But even dyed vachetta trim can show spots,
depending upon how dark the dye color.
So once the water spots are there, there’s nothing that can be done to treat it? Wetting all of it so the spot isn’t defined? Of course I know nobody wants to do that but would that make the whole uniform? With fall knocking at the door, I’m gonna get a crash course in rain sleet and snow affecting my bags. This is where my chestnut will come into play as she will be the one I carry since I know she laughs at mist /light rain.

it’s weird and Ive seen this explained on you tube, how different colors of Florentine scratch and some do not. Some are matte and some lustrous. Some with texture and some super thin and don’t feel like Florentine leather. Of course older Florentine will be different from newer Florentine. the birthday blue large satchel from the outlet feels thick like Florentine but the texture is super smooth and feels like none of my other bags. It’s like peach fuzz but smooth at the same time. It’s like it’s got some kind of coating on it. I can’t explain iit. None of the other satchels on the floor I touched in the outlet felt like this, even the two she brought from the back didn’t feel like this. She said this was high up on the shelf. But okay I’m glad she found it.

No Toscana bags were hurt in this photo shoot.
I received it in November, 2016. It is a 2016 Christmas gift from my DD, but she let me carry it before Christmas. I carried it every day for about 4 1/2 months, then 2-3 times a week for about 2-3 months. I was spending half the week in SF and I finally had to admit it was too heavy to carry on my walks, so I only carried it the days I was in Oakland with the family, driving or riding in my DD's car. I also used it as a carry on bag once but it was heavy. It survived being shoved under the seat in front of me with no marks.
When I stopped carrying it I hung it on a Clipa purse hook in my oldest GDD's closet, no dust bag. In 2021 the family moved when I was staying with my sister in SF. They packed my bags in a box with no dust bags and my Toscana bag was almost at the bottom of the box. It was pushed in from being in th box, but no marks or scratches. It's held up very well!
That is awesome! She looks fabulous and has been on many adventures. I’m glad she has held up for 7 years and still looks darn good. A real testament to the quality of Dooney leather. What is the model you have called? Have you ever cleaned or conditioned it? If so what did you use?

I need a clippa, it’s in my anazon cart. I’ll suggest it to my mom as a birthday gift for me

Thanks!
It's called a Florentine Toscana Domed Satchel.
I have never cleaned it except once when I spilled coffee on the front. I quickly used water and toilet wipes and it was good as new.
I love my Clipas! I currently have three. I keep one in the bag I'm carrying and the other two on a pole in the closet for my seasonal Dooney bags. They are especially handy when you're in a bathroom stall with no hook. It easily hooks over the door or, someone in the forum hooks hers to the door hinges in single bathrooms. I've been using Clipas since 2008.

First winner. Absolutely beautiful condition, so smooth, and the patina is awesome. I liked the ocean flap crossbody so much I wanted her cousin. Zip flap crossbody in the color chestnut. I like the zip flap secret compartment that goes all the way down to the bottom of the bag. The zipper weighs down the flap unlike the flap crossbody. Love the 2 front pockets and the back zip pocket. This is a wonderful carry. roomier than the small satchel. Lift the flap and I can see everything. iPad Pro fits. 3 piece strap. Back of the strap is the same color chestnut as the bag. Very happy with this beautiful addition to my collection. LOVE HER

instead of getting that large Bordeaux satchel, I want to get a small Florentine Logan drawstring. I don’t have any drawstrings. It looks like a cute fun carry… I can’t justify to myself getting another large satchel when I already have 3… there are so many other styles I want to try.

Sounds like you are having fun and refining your Flo handbag choices.
Details about style can make a big difference, based upon what you carry
and how you carry a handbag.

BTW, the small Logan Flo drawstring is not a small handbag. It's
not huge, but it will hold as much as the small Flo satchel (12" Long base).
You just have to put things in vertically in the DS and use the height, as opposed to
the length, when loading up the bag.

I love the look of the drawstring handbags. I keep buying them. But for me,
they are not the ideal style.... because I hand carry my bags. I don't think
the strap on the Logan is especially long, but what works for others as
a shoulder bag isn't ideal for me to hand carry. I deal with it... for the
look of the bags. Otherwise they are easy access and very usable.

Dooney has a different way of sizing. When they say small, they Really don’t mean it then. I like the look of the small Logan. I like the look of the Tasha. I haven’t seen too many of either for sale. I don’t want the bigger Florentine drawstring. It’s pretty but I have Buckley and that’s enough In that larger size. I thought about getting iBuckley in another color, but one is enough for me.

The size, shape, opening of this zip flap crossbody really works for me. It will be my winter carry as I know it will fit over my huge down coat. My coat is so big I look like a bear. Lol but I’m super warm in just a t shirt underneath. A must have when your dog gets you up for a walk @5:30a and it’s freezing outside. It’s really cold in Illinois in the winter, the wind just disrespectful as it claws your face and dives under your clothes hitting bone. I won’t be holding any bags when the ice and snow hits here. I’m gonna need both hands to avoid a face plant from slipping. A shoulder/ crossbody strap is a must.

I’m definitely looking at form and function as I add to my collection. Everything I have so far is permanent in my collection unless mom changes her mind and wants to give dooney a try. I’m gonna wear the Ivy domed crossbody next time I visit and let her see how cute it is, and smell it in person to see if she changes her mind. Geez I’m sniffing and petting her as we speak. I’m gonna go run some errands and she it perfect for that.

When looking at drawstring bags.... compare all the dimensions and the
shape of the base! The base can really make a difference and if it's not
wide enough or it's oval in shape, then you really loose capacity.
