'You're dying to see this hairdo go down the drain, ain't you?' Dolly Parton shrieks her way through ALS ice bucket challenge
Dolly Parton felt compelled to do the ALS ice bucket challenge when Kenny Rogers didnt believe she would go through it.
And while she very much rose to the challenge, the singer couldnt help but shriek and scream when it finally came to the dousing.
Dolly was determined to prove her Islands In The Stream co-collaborator wrong, while at the same time raising awareness for ALS, so did just that on Thursday.
Rising to it: Dolly Parton took part in the ALS ice bucket challenge on Thursday and shared a video of her efforts on YouTube
Im here to meet the challenge of a lot of people, for ALS, the 68-year-old said in a video posted to her YouTube page. This was not on my bucket list if youll pardon the expression. But a lot of people challenged me. Kenny Rogers dared me.
Kenny said, You'll never do it with your false hair, your false eyelashes, your false nails. Kenny, you'd be surprised at what all I do with my falsies, for a good cause and a good laugh. So here I go.
Dolly, who is one of 12 children, enlisted the help of two of her nieces, and showed viewers a photo of herself with them when they were younger.
Turning up the volume: The singer let out an almighty shriek when she was doused with the freezing water
Proving him wrong: Dolly said she was 'dared' by Kenny Rogers, who didn't think she would go through with it
This is them when they were little. Youve got to see this. Theyre kissing me. Now, theyre willing to drown me. Thanks girls, I really appreciate it, she said, then added: But actually theyre in on this for a good cause.
Dolly explained that she couldnt get down to business until shed taken off a few things, and removed her earrings and scarf. But she explained that her footwear could stay on.
My shoes are plastic, but then again so is the rest of me thats beside the point, she joked.

When Dolly was ready, her niece Rebecca said they had to refill the ice in their buckets because it had all melted during their aunts speech.
Clearly getting nervous just before the dousing, the superstar said: Oh dear, dear me. OK girls. Youre dying to see this hairdo go down the drain, aint you? I know you are. You used to love me.
As she got hit by the freezing water and ice cubes, Dolly hilariously let out an almighty screech and didnt stop until it was over, when she started to laugh.
After revealing that she wouldnt be nominating anyone, the Jolene hit-maker added: And yes, I am wearing a bra. Kenny, youve got to pay extra for the wet T-shirt contest. Cut.
