Does your LV canvas bag smell?

Thanks for suggesting this! I have been going crazy trying to get the smell out of an expensive throw pillow that I ordered. Three of them arrived new, but, one smells stale and weird... unfortunately, they are out of stock and I don't want to send them all back. I'll have to try it out! Does it stain/damage fabrics at all? It says non-toxic, I just wonder what it is made of too.

There is a spray called "zero odor" and you can buy it online or at bed bath and beyond. It's amazing! It neutralizes smells immediately and removes them. I've been using it for years. It's not like a fabreeze, there's no real scent to it. I highly recommend it!

Clairen4 I wonder if some pre loved-sellers spray their items with some type of perfume before selling?

I bought a pair of designer shoes from an online pre loved-site, and oh my goodness, they had a really strong perfume kind of scent to them, not a particularly nice one may I add, I am not sure the shoes were ever even worn before I got them as the soles (original) looked perfectly fine and scratch free, so I don't think that they had tried to cover up someones stinky-feet-smell?! I would really have preferred getting them without the nasty perfume-smell as I get a migraine from most strong scents. And this was that kind of scent. Ugh.

Thanks everyone  I have a bed bath and beyond near me so I will try the zero odor! Hopefully that will work. I had heard that about coffee grinds too, I can try that as well. Just didn’t expect to have this little scent removal project on my hands lol
Oh well I guess that’s what can happen when you buy preloved!

Hahha I had never thought of that. My assumption was the the bag had been kept in a dressing area close to where the previous owner sprayed her perfume. And I’m very sensitive too perfume as well. On other folks, they smell great, on me, they give me a migraine. I hope your shoes eventually lost their not so pleasant smell. :confused1::yucky::flowers:

I bought a preloved bag from Yoogi’s with an undisclosed musty closet smell also. I really liked the bag so I kept it, but it would’ve been nice if they had put the ‘smell’ in the description. I let the bag air out, I put in dryer sheets, I put baking soda in it, and finally I found a spray called Fresh Fogger from Nordstrom. It gets rid of smells from shoes, gym bags, and what not. The main ingredient is acetone and I guess that neutralizes smells. That’s the only thing I found to work so far. I’m curious to know if the Zero odor works. Also, I heard unscented Febreeze. Please keep us updated as to how it works out. GL

I think they do. I remember reading that online when I sold two bags to Fashionphile. They clean the insides of the bags before selling. They disclose other smells like cigarettes, perfume, etc but I guess they don't disclose their own deodorizer smell. It could also be that the deodorizer smell is mixing with whatever smell was there originally....

I gave up on trying to remove smells from bags. I ended up selling a gorgeous mint Noe GM years ago due to a horrible stench I couldn't get rid of (which I disclosed to the buyer). She ended up loving the bag so I guess I'm just very sensitive to odors. :(

You have to be careful - sometimes a musty/stale smell in different fabrics/materials could indicate there may be mold that is not visible and sometimes that’s why the musty smell doesn’t go away.
Yeah this has gone through my mind as well. The more I honestly think about it, I’m wondering if it’s worth trying to fix or if I should just send it back to Fashionphile. I haven’t taken the tags off or anything but as I mentioned earlier, I wasn’t really planning on having to deal with this. I don’t usually buy preloved and this experience has definitely turned me off, though I know tons of people have had great success with preloved!

Haha, I would probably have thought the same thing if it would have been a bag or some kind of clothing that i'd bought, but I thought that no one can possibly spray their shoes/or anywhere near their shoes with this much perfume, or keep them somewhere where it smells this much!?

Unfortunately they still smell a bit, haha, but I've only used them a few times and they sit in their box so the smell is kind of trapped in there. So I can handle it! I just make sure not to have them standing in the hallway for too long, cause then the whole apartment starts to smell like them. I guess putting them outside for some time could help.

And yes, I really wish that I would be one of those lovely ladies who always smell like a bouquet of freshly picked flowers, but no.:flowers:

Sadly there's an older lady at my job who sprays so much perfume on that it lingers on everything she touches . If she sits on a fabric chair it will smell. If she uses the rest room , it'll smell for hours like her perfume. She once told me she wears chanel 5 but I think the issue is the amount of it she wears.
If she happened to sell anything, I can absolutely bet that it would smell like too much perfume.
As soon as I read this thread about the perfume shoes I instantly thought" maybe they came from her!" Lol
