Does your LV canvas bag smell?

The only smell I’ve experienced is the leather on my keepall B45. It has a chemical smell, likely because of the treated leather. My spouse’s keepall doesn’t smell like that but the leather on his is the soft untreated, non rubbery, leather.

can you describe the smell? Some glues have a bad smell too. Try the charcoal bag to help with the smell.

My Iena PM smells too! Does LV warranty covers that? Though it’s way out of warranty. I want to know if it’s due to my storage issue or it’s a known random “defect” of LV.

Yup my reverse mono pochette metis stinks. Regular mono version doesn’t. I plan on selling for that reason the smell is nauseating
It seems like several of us are experiencing this. Makes me think it’s not just a fluke.

So far it seems like LV is not recognizing this as a problem. It took Hermès quite some time to admit that they had a problem with some of their leathers; the notorious “skunk” bags. I am wondering what we can do?

hi guys i need help. Basically i bought my palm springs mini preloved from a seller recently and the bag was recently purchased in sep of 2020. After one week i realised the bag has this very strong idk how to explain this “musty smell” or like the smell when u forgot to dry ur wet clothes properly if u know what i mean. And i also found that the glazing on the D rings peeled off. I do have the receipt. Do u think i should go to the louis vuitton store to ask about this issue?

I think so. The glazing is important. They could “accuse” you Of improper storage for the smell. But glazing is different right?

My by the pool Neverfull has a chemical-ish smell. It has had it from the moment I unboxed her. I did store her with a scented candle in a glass jar (not lit of course :) ) placed inside her so the gentle vanilla/ginger scent was around the inside of the bag and I have aired her out a lot. It is much fainter now after a summer of use and candles!

I am just starting to use my bags again and I noticed my speedy 25 ebene has an awful smell. It’s nauseating. All of my other bags are ok—and all stored the same way. I’ve aired it out but the smell comes back. How disappointing.

You might have to hang it instead of store it in the box. I did it several times before deciding selling for good. I periodically checking all other LV bags. I just hang it outside the closet if the smells back.

Thank you for your reply. I agree. I kept it out of the dustbag open and the smell is starting to go away. But I know the smell will just come back. I can still smell it faintly but it’s there. It is too much work for me for a bag—to have to air it out before I use it. All of my other bags are fine—I wonder how many people this has happened to.

I just got my pochette metis back from repair.. the whole inner lining was redone, but the smell (smells like rotten eggs or something) is still there! ugh... anyone know how to fix this? LV says it's not their problem. I've never spilled anything in it and used it carefully... could it be the canvas?

That’s awful! My bag has aired out and the smell is tolerable. But I’m concerned the smell will just come back once I close the bag.
