Does the Coach outlet sell fakes??

I just want to make sure everyone saw my 2nd post on the first page. I purchased 5 Coach bags that day - 3 from the factory store and 2 from the Bealls outlet. I did a ton of shopping that day and really thought I got them all from the coach outlet. I do feel really stupid for thinking you could buy authentic coach products from a 3rd party store.

Got ya..never heard of Bealls here. Yeah, my best advice is to make a stink to the store about it, and write a letter to the corporate offices. Most likely they will not believe you, but at least maybe they will try to be more careful about returns. I do know that TJ Maxx has tightened down here, but I still think many people there can't tell a real bag if it bit them in the butt..and a lot of them don't care either.

Wow, I had no idea. I guess it's not safe at all to buy a bag from a 3rd party retailer.

Do you think the sales assistants at stores like Nordstrom, Saks, Neiman, etc are more knowledgable about spotting fakes?

Yes it does! Switcheroos are happening more and more. It's happened some in dept stores like Macys where the SAs are not so knowledgeable, but it's very strange it could happen at an outlet where there are a lot of Coach employees. Someone there could easily catch it, and my experience has been that managers are knowledgeable regarding their products. They also take great care with returns. I'm not saying it's impossible, but much less likely.

I was told Coach sent some reps to dept stores recently for training on how to tell counterfeits, but the truth is some people simply cannot tell the difference. I also recently found a fake Chloe at Marshalls and fake Dooney and Bourke at TJ Maxx. I think these are the places you have to worry about the most. I turned both in, but I got the impression that they didn't care. I bet both bags went back out on the floor after I left!!

Whats Confusing Is If Someone Return A Fake Bag With No Receipt The Sa Has To Type In The Creed Number So The Fake Had The Same Creed As The Authentic One. If Some One Return A Fake Bag And The Sa Accept It And Put It Back On The Floor For Sale Someone Who Know There Products Like The Store Manager Have To Know Its A Fake And Should Remove It. Its Like Ordering A Bag From Jax And Getting A Fake They Would Say They Didint Send A Fake Bag

You shouldn't feel stupid at all. You CAN buy authentic coach from 3rd party stores. I have bought from Tj MAXX and Marshalls. You just have to be more careful at these places.

Good idea - I'll print out pictures of the bags too and mail the photos to them. Should I mail the bags to them? Or do you think they'd end up on the floor again?

I think it might be a FL-only chain? We don't have them here in Washington, but I'd shop there when I went home to FL.

It seems comparable to the Ross, TJ Maxx and Marshall's we have around here.

We have a Bealls but it is a department store.... also called Palais Royal, Peebles and Stage..

I guess it's different.

Honestly, it has been so long you can't do anything on your CC and likely if you call the store they will not believe they sold you a fake.

I am SO sorry this happened.

aww man, this whole 3rd party thing has me nervous!

I am a BIGTIME coach newbie :flowers: so forgive all my questions, but I am In :love::love: with the new teal trimmed carly and wanted to purchase one from Macys for the Friends and Family sale. Is there anything particular to the Carly's that I should be worried about? Ive read a little about spotting coach fakes, but i just wanted to know if Carly style bags have anything different.

Thanks guys!

Well, I don't know about all 3rd party retailers, but it is likely there are many SAs that can't tell the difference. I have never ever seen a Macys SA type in the creed, just scans the tag. I had a manager do my return (no SA at Coach counter at the time) of my Bleecker patchwork tote (because I kept the duffle instead) and I am not sure he would have known if it was a fake. The receipt had all my info [used Macys CC] so if they discovered it was fake they could always call me, but what if I had paid with cash and returned a fake?

If possible check out the Carly in real life at a Coach store, and write down markings, number of tags, zippers, lining type, shape, serial number etc.

If you can't see a genuine one before shopping at Macys, check the Coach website and look at all the photos they have close up. Maybe print them out and take them with you, and definitely know what the serial number should be for your style. Check the bag and creed over very carefully...look for spelling mistakes, too light hardware or poor stitching on the bag you're buying. A Coach bag should be of top quality without errors on the creed!

If you purchase away from Coach keep all your receipts, credit card statements etc. and if possible take it into a Coach store for verification as soon as you can, preferably with the store tags on it so you can return it easily if you need to. Credit card companies can help you with fakes, so if you have a card maybe use it for payment rather than cash.

Better still, if you have a friend who knows Coach take them with you.

Thanks little peanut, thats great advice! Although i'd feel pretty silly spending so much time at the coach boutique writing down and basically dissecting the carly in the store without buying it, but hey, 25% off= close to 100.00!
