Does anyone feel that they carry too much?!

I used to carry everything, including the kitchen sink:laugh: but that's when I was in my teens. Now I only carry the essentials like my phone, wallet, keys, sunnies, cosmetic pouch and a small hair brush. Sometimes I take my Ipad with me but only during the weekends when I know I will be sitting somewhere and actually have time to use it (like at a coffee shop) for example. Otherwise I leave the Ipad at home when I'm just running around doing errands.

Maybe Finland is different, but I've never heard of a european workplace that didn't have a first aid kit for their employees. None of my family or friends carry bandaids on a regular basis, because they don't need them that often. I am very clumsy and often cut myself on things, so I carry one for that. I'm in Denmark btw :)

Thanks for your perspective! It's interesting to me what is normal in other countries. I know in many parts of the world, you can't expect toilets to be stocked with toilet paper and are expected to carry it with you. I figured maybe bandaids in Scandinavia might be similar, you never know.

Have you try the memobottle? They're flat shaped like a notebook and I found them to really help cut down the bulk when I started to carry small handbags and still want my water with me :D

The Memobottle looks really neat!

I used to carry water and more when I had a tighter schedule, but now my life is flexible and I don't find myself needing it very often. I might spend at most $5 a month buying things that I could have carried. When I was a student $5 was a lot, but now it's not worth carrying extra weight.

I could not imagine living in a country that didn't have toiletpaper stocked! In Denmark, most people are nice (and not like our government makes us seem!) and you can always use the toilet, get a glas of water or a bandaid in most shops, cafes, hotelsand restaurants if you ask politely. But I think (hope?) that it's like that all across the world :)

I'm not sure what all the band-aid hate is about. :confused1: I carry two band-aids because a) they take up zero space, and b) I sometimes torture myself by wearing tragically painful shoes which can result in blisters, so I'd rather just have them on me. I am not above asking for a band-aid or two if I happen to be out though. And I carry a travel size Advil because I suffer from frequent head aches and am allergic to some other pain relievers, so it makes sense for me to have it on hand. I still manage to travel very light with these items. Others may have different reasons for carrying their "extras", especially if they rely on public transportation or walk or just prefer to carry a larger bag with a lot more stuff. :peace:

I just looked this up and what a great idea! I'd still have the weight of the water to carry but the shape looks much easier. Thanks for the tip!

I was laughing about the band-aid hate too! That is the lightest, smallest item in my purse! What I don't get is the amount of makeup some women carry around. I guess if you have a long day at work and then have to go to dinner, you'd want a touch-up, but most days, I put on makeup and then forget about it. Ditto with perfume (wear rarely but once it's on, I don't re-apply). But then some people don't use hand lotion as obsessively as I do, so to each their own!

I was quite amused by the hate as well - it's not like a couple of bandaids weigh a ton. :p

I'm with you on the makeup question as well. I have a Longchamp small pouch and it carries a few lip products, mascara, concealer and powder. I've seen some women bust out a full sized makeup bag to do some touch-ups. If they don't plan on getting stranded on an island for a week, I have no idea what they need all that stuff for. :weird:

I used to be that make-up person! And I rarely even used it! But it was just security of knowing it was there "just in case". Such a waste. I know better now.

I'm trying to do better with the hand lotion...I don't carry it with me, but I started keeping a tube sitting on my desk so at least Monday-Friday I am using it regularly. I am anti-hand-sanitizer, so I never carry that stuff, but I know a lot of people do. I've never carried extra perfume in my bag...but I do keep a spare deodorant and complete make-up bag for touch ups in my desk at work..."just in case". :p

Happy Friday the 13th!

I have one! I got it in a subscription box, and it was the winner of the entire box. I am looking forward to using it on my next trip. I had been bringing a small Swell with me, but that thing is still bulky as heck. I got a smaller size of the Memo and I like how flat it is. It won't keep things cold the same way as the Swell does, but it will work in a pinch and be WAY lighter than the Swell.

SERIOUSLY! I cannot go out without Bandaids, Kleenex and floss (I have little individual wrapped thread flosses from Glide) because 1) I am a fail at life, and either get blisters or fall and scrape my knee, 2) I am allergic to being alive, and kleenex saves me from sneezing all over myself and 3) I lose my mind when there's stuff in my teeth, so having floss available is a god-send for my sanity. I may carry too much other crap, but the floss and the bandaids I can stick in my wallet.

Umm, I think we may be related! :p I cannot leave the house without Kleenex. I've been getting allergy shots (like you, I am allergic to everything) for the last two years, and they really help, but even temperature changes make my nose run so I think I will just never be able to not have Kleenex on me. Any kind of remotely dressy shoe (anything that is not a boot or a sneaker) gives me blisters. And I had braces as an adult, an experience that will make you completely OCD about your teeth! I'm going to have to find those individually wrapped flosses, because right now I just carry the little travel samples I get from the dentist.

Definitely have to get one of those Memo bottles. I've been carrying an insulated Camelbak bottle and it works great, but is SO bulky.

You can get the floss at Target, but here's a link to Drugstore as well. I've seen it on Amazon also, but I don't really buy from Amazon.

I think I have the A6.

I feel you on the shots. MANY years here. I still get huge wheels like you would not believe. My entire upper arms are basically giant welts.

+1. I also carry a couple of strips because you never know when you'll need it.

Thanks for the links. I don't get the huge wheels, fortunately -- more like quarter or dime-size welts -- but I am always wiped out the next day.
