Does anyone feel that they carry too much?!

I think that it's muuuuch easier to downsize when you commute by car v foot / public transpo. I carry water with me everywhere it's just usually in my car (when I'm running errands) or my in work tote.

Absolutely. It's a catch 22 -- you have to carry more when you don't travel by car, but because you're walking more, you want to be as light as possible! Sometimes I'll go with a smaller bag but carry the water bottle and other extras separately in a small shopping bag. But then I get tired of carry two bags and go back to the big tote. First world problems, I guess!

I have a problem wanting to carry everything I think I might need. I use small pouches to keep my bags organized and like looking down in my bags and seeing them(mostly purple it is my favorite color). I seem to want to carry them all at one.lol I also love totes and usually put a small cross body bag in them to use for a quick store run or use a wristlet. I also have a little zippered bag to keep most of my pouches in so I can easily take it out and leave in trunk to lighten load for shopping.

What type of bag do u ladies carry for work?

I use a tote that work gave to us at christmas. I have a sleeve in it for my laptop and keep my work papers in it and while I'm at work, I throw my smaller crossbody purse inside. It keeps people from noticing my nicer bag and making unwanted comments and sort of keeps my stuff safer.

This!!! Exactly! I also have a bunch of pouches! I just switched to a smaller, different style bag than I am used to and I had to get rid of 2. I feel weird without them! Totes are my favorite. I'm using a new MBMJ bag I got in Vegas in February At the outlet and the one strap is taking some time to used to. It's a hobo style. It definitely does not hold as much as I'd like it too, but I could not pass it up! I loved the color too much and my goal was I come home with one!

I love hobo's also. I have to get rid of some of my pouches also. Congrats on your MBMJ bag, I just got my first MBMJ wallet(don't have any bags yet) this weekend and love it. When I use smaller bags and can't carry my normal pouch load.lol I feel like I'm missing something. Sometimes I will carry an extra bag with stuff I might need and leave in my trunk.

I carry alot, but it's just enough. I believe in being prepared - if I need to treat a wound, touch up my makeup, have a snack, listen to music to stay awake, check timetables, blow my nose...I don't want to be one of those clowns who steal napkins from cafes when they sneeze or ask a cashier for a bandaid/hand sanitizer/whatever. Or starve if my train is late or my work shift suddenly gets longer.

I COULD and DO carry less, but only when I'm going out on a date, grocery shopping etc. That's when I mostly just carry my key pouch, phone, wallet, bus card, a pack of kleenex, a lip product and sunnies.

Some time ago, we were having some bag talk and a male colleague who was listening commented, "why do you have all that stuff in your bag, is your bag an emergency kit?" After that I tried not to bring everything. :p

Wow, you think someone is a clown if they need a napkin from a cafe to blow their nose? Or ask for a bandaid if they cut themselves? I guess I am a clown then!

Unless you have children, why would anybody carry bandaids regularly? I can't remember the last time I needed one, but I wouldn't think twice about asking for one if I was bleeding all over the place. :confused1:

I think it's kinda weird and a bit sad that a grown person can't make sure they have the means to look after themselves. I never cole unprepared. My job involves traveling and when I'm out and about, I need to have all my bases covered. The same goes for any other situation - be prepared and don't rely on others' good will.

When I first started using a bag (at age 16 approximately) I thought about stuff I could put in there to make it look needed. Today I am the opposite: I carry my wallet, two phones, keys, and that´s it. To me it is more important to travel light than to look perfectly groomed :)
To each her own I guess.

I see you are in Finland, so it might be different than in the US. Workplaces here are required to have first aid kits.

I am curious, do men in Finland carry bandaids in their suits? I don't know any American men who do, and I would never judge them to be sad or weird because of it.

Maybe Finland is different, but I've never heard of a european workplace that didn't have a first aid kit for their employees. None of my family or friends carry bandaids on a regular basis, because they don't need them that often. I am very clumsy and often cut myself on things, so I carry one for that. I'm in Denmark btw :)

Every time I see an elegant woman with a small bag effortlessly hanging off of her, I sigh with envy, wishing that was me! In reality, I don't think I carry that much -- a small wallet, a small LV pouch (with lip gloss, Purell, gum, etc.), sunglasses, hand lotion, Kleenex, cell phone, keys. Depending on the day, I may also have a notebook, a pouch with some snacks, an umbrella. But what really kills me is the water bottle, which is the one big, heavy item I can't seem to do without. I get migraines and have found that staying hydrated really helps stave them off. I am usually on foot or on public transportation, so storing the heavy/bulky stuff in the car doesn't work for me. I know I could buy bottles of water wherever I go, but that seems wasteful. But if I could just ditch the water bottle, I would be a lot closer to my fantasy woman who can go through an entire day carrying a Chanel flap or Gucci Disco!

Have you try the memobottle? They're flat shaped like a notebook and I found them to really help cut down the bulk when I started to carry small handbags and still want my water with me :D
