The bags looks lovely, the Kelly is definetly box leather. As for the bolide, it might be chamonix (matte version of box) as it is so structured. You can google up on it, hope this helps!
Thanks so much, Doc. You're wonderful. I'll read about Charmonix. Have you ever touched that leather? Would you say it's not as soft as box?

No problem, anyway i am not doc, just a tpfer here [emoji3]. I haven't touch gulliver(swift) leather before. However gulliver tends to slouch even after a year of using. And yours is vintage, gulliver definetly would not be able hold its shape. Chamonix on the other hand is very structured and smooth to touch. Exactly the same leather as box, stiff but matte.

Oh! So sorry, I'm not sure where I got that idea. It's fun reading about the different leathers. It definitely appears to be charminix! Thanks again!

Hello
Hi Doc! I wanted to find out if the back and corners can be repair of this blue jean jypsiere? Pics attached. Please let me know. Thanks!!View attachment 3468997View attachment 3468998View attachment 3468999View attachment 3469000
Hello there, It would need full color restoration , this is not something Hermes would do for you, a non Hermes handbag restoration shop might do it , keep in mind that the process might leave an altered hand feel... more plastic to the touch... the shop might get some color on te stitches as well.
All the best,doc

View attachment 3473827 Hi Doc,

I've a quick question for you. I've acquired a vintage Bolide in what I thought was box calf leather, but when I compare it to my vintage Kelly in what I also thought was box calf, they feel different to the touch. The Bolide, to the naked eye, looks smooth and similar to the Kelly, but it feels a bit rougher to the touch, almost like it has a bit of a "tooth", if you know what I mean. The Kelly is buttery soft and shinier. Any thoughts on what these to leathers are?

Thank you so much for your help!

Hello there, Its a lovely box calf leather in Rouge H color. Rouge H can vary quite a lot even on the same leather type from vat to vat and year to year... Some Rouge H is a lovely purple purple under tone and some has more brown undertone.... and some it somewhere in between and a very pure Oxblood or Burgundy.
Your bags are lovely, congratulations

Hi Docride,
How are you? Thanking you for any help you can give me. I bought a consigned black Evelyne bag. Some of the leather looks as if it has been worn down. The texture in this area if very flat if that makes sense. I am guessing because it's worn crossbody, it occurred from rubbing against the person that wore it. Is there anything I can do to help this? Should I try Blackrock? Also, some of the leather on the rolled edges of the bag has worn off.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you so much!
Hello, First off what leather is this? Is the top skin worn away? can you post a photo?
Do NOT use blackrock......
Please folks I don't use that product except for on vintage box calf or vache natural ....
I'll check back , All the best,doc

Hi doc, just wondering if the leather strap on the herbag can be repaired. Can you please advise on what product to use here?

Also, if there's a stain on the toilet, can that be cleaned? Thanks!!!

image.jpeg image.jpeg Hi Doc, I hope you are doing well:wave:. Would you take a peak at the two whitish marks on the CDC leather.
Is there something that can be put on them? Do you know why this would happen? Is is dry there???
Do you recommend putting anything on Chevre bags? I have heard they are fairly indestructible. Do you find
that to be true:graucho:

Thanks so much for your assistance :flowers:

i really don't want to a full color restoration. woly cream or tarrago color dye won't cover the color missing on the back? color doesn't have to be a perfect match, since it's on the back and don't think anyone will see the difference in the color. if not, i may have to pass up on this bag… please let me know. thank you doc!

Hi Doc,

I recently purchased this vintage Kelly from a reseller shop at Japan. This is a 1981 Kelly. I think it is box leather, am I right?

Is the leather consider as dry? When I touch it, it feels ok except those hairline on the leather. Should I do b+o?

And for the hardware. I found overall looks ok but the zip looks very dull, how can I polish or treat it?

Many thanks IMG_1474779447.771166.jpgIMG_1474779460.320250.jpgIMG_1474779474.428684.jpgIMG_1474779489.203604.jpg

Thank you, Doc! I've been back and forth about whether the bag is Box Calf or Charminix. It's mostly the feel of the leather that had me confused. The Bolide is smooth, but doesn't feel as "buttery soft" as the Box Kelly... Still, it's beautiful. I love it!

Hello Docride!
I'm still a little new to Hermes, so I've been reading a lot on waterproofing the leather on my Herbag Ado. The only thing I want to make sure of is the type of leather it is. I've read many, many blogs about leather type, and I think the leather on my black herbag is Calf Boxed? If not, do you know what is it? And can I waterproof it the way you would a boxed calf leather?

Thank-you again for all your help!

FWIW, both your bags look like box to me. I had a 2000 box Kelly and a 2001 box Bolide and the textures and shine were quite different. Chamonix is quite matte.
They are lovely bags, Rouge H is my favorite <3
