Hi Docride,

Could you recommend some conditioner brands that Would be effective for my vintage Constance?
Thank you in advance.

I have recommended many brands of conditioners in the past , Meltonian, Saphir ( ther are many good products out there to choose rom I can not mention certain products The Key things too keep in mind is to treat a small hidden area with any new product to make sure you test a small hidden area to make sure you like the results before continuing on to large panels , try not to use overly oily products or overly way products and se the products sparingly .. you can always repeat applications which is easier than trying to remove excess product which has been allowed to sit on leather becoming sticky and tacky.

Hi @docride and @mistical !
Can you help me what type of leather, colour is this bolide?
Is possible to condition it? Will be so difficult? Is vintage.
Thank you,
My best regards

Hi Doc

I have started a conversation with you before I realized that the discussion continues here.

Anyhow, I was introduced to the Hermes Vintage Bag Nightmares thread in regards of a bag I'm interested in acquiring.

According to the seller, the piece is probably from the 60s as no stamp is seen and the condition is good. It is a Kelly 28 in box leather and I have attached few images of the bag here hoping to get your opinions before I make my decision.

Thank you!

Looks like Veau Courchevel not sure what color due to monitors showing different hues Yes it can be conditioned no it should not be difficult
A nice light conditioning would be found a in a wipe type conditioner ... I would not use any heavy oily type conditioners .

The main thing Id like to know about is the condition of the handle bases , are there tears? Are there cracks?
If not ten go forward with an understanding that those wrinkles and bunched up finish isn't going to radically improve with restoration although the bag will that you non the less for the care and attention, by feeling ore supple and looking more shiny.
I hope this hasn't come to too late. All the best doc

The handle is in new condition as bases. It was changed on september 2014.

dear docride, 9 months ago I acquired a beautiful vintage Kelly and you helped me make it shine even more. Now, I'm excited because I'm expecting an older but never worn before Drag in box leather. She looks almost pristine. I promised the hubby not to mess with this one too much, but is there something you'd do on arrival? She a beautiful dark blue color (blue sapphire or royal blue), so not too easily affected by handling. Thanks in advance and kind regards

Hello Doc, I was wondering if you could advise me on how to clean the small white mark on my kelly double tour bracelet. I'm not sure how it got there until I took it out of the dustbag the other day. I've tried patting it with water lightly but it did nothing. Can I clean this up myself? TIA!

Dear @docride , can u give me some tips how I can use Saphir saddle soap to clean dirt or scratch mark on my box Kelly (1972). I bought it together with the revenovateur. I used it to polish the bag when it first came to me from the reseller. I haven't used the saddle soap so far. But I wonder how the saddle soap can be used in Hermes bag(as I am going to get a vintage etoupe togo Birkin, there seems some dirt mark on the handle). Then, I read someone said saddle soap not good for handbag. So I'd like to have your advice, pls.

May I ask one more question? How often should I use the renovateur? Isn't it not good to use it often to avoid messing the leather?

Thanks very much!

Docride - a lovely veau sombrero sable bag is on its way to me. Wanted to ask whether the blackrocks and obenaufs treatment is appropriate? Would you recommend something else? I don't mind patina, just want to protect against surprise rain

Thanks!

Hello, Congratulations on your beautiful veau sombreo bag how exciting. You would not want to use either of those products on it , as it will make a royal mess of things. What are you trying to accomplish? Your best bet is to use products which work well on Barenia...... Google barenia or unfinished care products ?
All the best doc

Hello, I would not use saddle soap on your bags was that recommended to you? although it could be used on box calf its really rather involved and it would never be something I would recommend to folks as a general treatment at all too much chance of having things go wrong...... and I would also not go to thinking than saddle soap is a great cleaner of marks .. much of what you may perceive to be marks or dirt is usually wear and stains which will of course not clean off.
Perhaps you should post photos of the issues first and the we can help you come up with a plan.
I would not over use saphir renovator as its a greasy type of conditioner... so I would use it sparingly on leathers such as box calf and charmonixx andtake care not to apply it repeatedly to the stitching. Mind you it is suitable only on certain leather types; I would not use it on togo for instance.
I hope this helps?
All the best,doc

Hello there,
First off do NOT pat water on chevre you could get a water blister..... Try a leather cleansing wipe there are several reputable companies that make them.....just google...... and if that doesn't work let me know and well sort out the next steps.... Any ideas what that is? it kind of looks like it could be markup?
What ever you do ,do NOT use a baby wipe....
All the best doc
