Hi Docride, I looked at your care guide but could not find anything for Sombrero leather. I just purchased a pre-loved Kelly. It has really subtle superficial scratches and scruffs that are only visible in strong outdoor light. Someone had mentioned using Lexol wipes. Would you recommend this? Any recommendations for regular care and managing the scratches (I know it’s very prone to scratching but I really love the matte leather). Thank you in advance!
Hi sombrero leather is wonderful stuff
Those scratches will stay but as you get more they’ll all blend Back into the patina for this leather it’s important NOT to use heavy thick waxy or greasy type products on this skin Abd do NOT use polish on it . Ok? I’ll add in a sombrero recommended products on the thread today
all the best doc

Hi Doc, can you please let me know if the crease on swift leathers (i.e. on the right side of the picture) can be removed? If so, how? Thanks!!View attachment 4815234
Hi there, Probably that's going to stay...particularly if its stretched...This could be the seam from the interior pockets that have been pushing through if the bag was over stuffed for instance , or perhaps the seller put something into the bag to give it shape and its pushing on the interior pocket seam? Have you asked the seller? Swift can be soft and it does then to relax and stretch to some degree. A stiff insert might help but I would not expect it to fix this. You may have heard of some people ironing or steaming leather to remove wrinkles in (this appears to be stretch) however the potential for damage is too high in my opinion to mess around with on an Expensive Hermes bag. I wouldn't encourage mucking with it with heat or steam or water.
I hope this helped?
All the best,doc

Hi doc,

Hope all is well esp during this crazy time!

I came across a beautiful birkin that I am interested in purchasing but noticed there is some bulge at the back (where I am guessing the zipper ends and where the raincoat is kept), do you think it is something that can be fixed if I take it to the Hermes spa or using bag inserts? Leather is Mysore Chèvre. Thanks so much!!

Hello there!
Well here is a bag that could use some TLC its in a sad cosmetic state in deed ( looks functionally fine though I agree with you). So , if you are anything like me and I do suspect you might be you want to adopt bags and homeless stray animals?
Lets get too it... do you actually like the bags shape and would you use it?
Hermes might take it in for spa , but to me it looks badly stained so a leaning is not going to change color by much if anything ...
To take the bag to a cobbler for redye? Maybe? I just think that if you go that route you want to make sure you dont end up with a painted looking bag.. then all the luxury might be lost. So if you love the bag, you'll use it and know someone great to restore it... then go for it.
If you just feel sorry for the bag... then just adopt it clean it up and let it be a cool old vintage original Hermes bag that's not groady dirty or gross....and then revisit what to do next?
I hope that helps?
All the best! to we birds of a feather...?

Thank you Docride.
I apologize for my late reply.
I didn't purchase the bag, for I didn't want to risk wasting money (even a very low sum).
I also was interested in it because I have a baby, and with him I cannot wear my usual bags (I prefer handheld ones). Crossbodies aren't flattering on me, that's why I didn't want to invest much (had to return an Evelyne last summer for that reason)

Hi there,
Usually when the leather is stretched like that its going to stay. If that bulge from the interior pocket seam then an insert probably wont help. I'd consider this as part of the bag now, although it ight be possible to make it look a wee bit better I think its best not to muck with it IMHO.
I hope this helps?
All the best,doc
PS> Gorgeous bag, hard to find color and skin....I love it!

I just bought this lindy and it has a stain, can it be spa-ed to remove?

Hi there,
Great Color! When you say Spa-ed do you mean will Hermes fix it? I cant speak for Hermes so you may need to ask them)
However, Yes I would expect that a qualified restorer should be able to make this look better...
To me it looks like you have some stains and also an ink strike ? Ink strikes or even a set in stains aren't just cleaned off...so if that's the case you might need to take it to a restorer who would remove the ink and recolor the area to match. It doesn't look like its a matter of just cleaning off that mark... But I haven't examined the item personally so I'm guessing.
I hope this helps?

thanks! yes, i'm wondering if hermes can fix. my nearest store is 6+ hours away. i can still return the bag if the stain isn't fixable but its the exact bag i want. i just worry about having to possibly sell a bag down the road with stains (or obvious repairs).
