Hello Everyone

I just started a You Tube Chanel so you can see how to care for your Hermes Bags just like I do ! Please note you can buy the Generic separate items like a polishing brush and a polishing cloth from many places and a good neutral polish so you can follow along at home  with me
Here's a sample of Box Calf Polishing let me know if this is helpful? Thank you!
Hugs doc

I have just enjoyed a quiet hour watching these amazing you tube videos.
...and especially enjoyed the part where self care and bag care blend into one. Polishing beloved bag= yoga:hbeat:

Hi Doc, I believe it is? I thought it is, with white dots like spores spouting all over the bag. I live in Singapore.

I did consult my SA and is quoted S$385 for the spa. I’m still pondering if it is worth the money or if I should quickly bring the bag to the spa ASAP to prevent discolouration.

Well I don’t know if Hermes does any mold killing during Spa in your country? I’d ask them what they recommend
I’d try to get some moisture absorbing packs to place in the area you store your bags
There are some mold killers for leather some are very harsh though... some are less so
The main problem is mold and mildew have spores and those spores are floating around in the air. If you can reduce the humidity in the air where you store your bags it might help ?
I wish I had a magic wand to make this problem not be a problem anymore I know it’s very distressing.
Hugs doc

Hi docride. I'm an Hermès newbie who has recently fallen in love with the Evelyne. I saw this one on Fashionphile and love its vintage, distressed look, but am concerned about the mention of "substantial corner wear" and "peeling."

I'd love to hear your thoughts on the condition of the leather of this bag? Do you think the peeling and corner wear (if excessive) can be rehabbed? Also, is Ardennes leather as soft and smooshy as Clemence?

Thanks ever so much for your wisdom and guidance!

Hi there!
The leather is much stiffer than Togo even the colorless could be addressed with some color touch up
Over all a nice bag [emoji108]all the best doc

Thank you, Docride!!! I'm on the fence because I love the richness of the color, but am not sure I'll like the stiffness of the leather. I love my clemence Evie so much!!!

Hi @docride You're the best - thank you for this thread!!!

I have a question about a bag I'm considering purchasing this 20-yr-old K32 bag from year 2000 - it's on the right of this photo (which should show up larger below). This bag is listed in "good" condition with "Residue marks , scuffs , imprints, edge wear" - I don't understand what "imprints" are.

Adjustments.JPG

This bag does not appear to have patina/shine and looks more matte and flat on the surface, especially compared to the K35 bag on the left and also compared to these two other beautiful bags which is very distinguished/patina'd,. Shine/patina look to me is very beautiful and is what I want in a vintage bag.

Here's my question: can that shine/patina be brought out with a spa visit or should I continue looking for an older bag that is already more shiny to start with? (For reference, I am using “shine” and “patina” as basically interchangeable descriptions so if they actually mean different things please tell me!) FYI

Also, this bag has many scratches... would you think spa can reduce the visibility of these? Photos attached.

The back on the right is the one I'm considering:

I’m
Going to answer a couple of good questions you had
Regarding buying a bag based upon its shine level
A shiny surface does not denote a healthy leather
The shine might be from any of the following
A well developed patina
Polish application and buffing to a shine
Someone used as shiny spray on product
All the best doc

Thanks a ton @docride - this is very handy. Do you have any tips to determine what "real" patina looks like (ie. patina built from touch/love) vs the "faux" shine-spray / polish looks?
