Hi Docride,
How are you doing? What do you think of its condition, not too dry right? What leather is this bag? Is it Charmonix? I'm not sure. Thanks so much for help as always!
Looks like charmonix, cant tell how dry it is but its been allowed to dry out at some point. Best bet is check for small tears and cracks at the handle bases and handle then straps then side panel at the bends. These lovely old vintage bags do well with a bit of TLC before stressing the with a full work day.

Dear docride,

this Kelly is already gone however I would like to learn for potential future purchases. This one had been declared as box but I think it is vache Natural and although stated as "like new", I think is has tarnishing/pitting on lock and lock plate. There are two other things that actually concerned me more which is that white abrasion on the corner and the handle. I understand that vache Natural corners cannot really be restored like on other leathers, but how bad or deep is the scuff when you see the white? For the handle (near the ring), the seam seems to be bit off. Is this normal production variation or did the seam open and someone tried to glue it back together? Would greatly appreciate your advice and hope to make my first vintage purchase a success.

Great bag I dont see any opening and adding glue situation, some glue is used during the production of this and most Kelly bags ,so and uncolored edge might show this bit of glue as a matter of course... My uess. And that little white lip along the edge of the side seam could be buffed out IMO.
All the best, doc and forgive my tardyiness.
Im back!
Best regards doc

For the encyclopaedic free advice and individual messages of help you have so generously given over the years,
I sincerely hope no-one would be so churlish as to object to you sharing the details of these marvellous videos.
If all the people who get exercised over marking their box bags would just get to know them better by spa-ing themselves from time to time, they would loose the fear and be able to enjoy them more.

Hey there! How nice you are !
Thank you !
So this lovely croc can be made to look much better with some conditioning and a good buffing . Now the scratch won’t be gone but with it can be made to look a lot less noticeable and kind of blend back into the over all patina
Does this croc have some water spots as well?
Beautiful skin btw
All the best doc

Thank you!!! A teeny bit of water spot. Living in London, it’s unavoidable

Hello,
Are you sure that's Mold?
The bag could probably use a bit of a gentle conditioning if its been sitting without care for a few years... Certainly you can send it for spa
Maybe put some moisture absorbing packs around the bags storage area if Mold is a problem where you live?

Hi Doc, I believe it is? I thought it is, with white dots like spores spouting all over the bag. I live in Singapore.

I did consult my SA and is quoted S$385 for the spa. I’m still pondering if it is worth the money or if I should quickly bring the bag to the spa ASAP to prevent discolouration.

Thank you Docride.
Sorry for the late reply, Im back now...
When those scratches press and flatten the texture like I see here, they'll tend to stay a permanent mark ... However if there are scratches with some color loss often some conditioning at spa can improve the look of them. I hope this helped.
