Do you think the Gucci marmont bag is a "trend" ?

Not a problem, I wasn't in a rush  But this helps immensely! And it looks like your bag is in pretty good shape if you've used it this long and often. The SA did warn me about it being a lint collector. If and when you do use a lint roller does it mess up the velvet and pulls too much velvet off? (not sure if that made sense) Sorry for asking so many questions! I've always gravitated towards leather or canvas purses and I don't want to regret choosing the wrong bag!
I try to dust/wipe the lint off using a cleaning cloth that came with another bag. I also forgot to mention that I use this bag as a work bag half during the week as it is pretty roomy (to an extent - the other half of the week I switch to a larger bag). I'm not sure how the velvet would be if I used it as a going out bag, on the weekends, etc.

You can’t go wrong with picking a black marmont, but it won’t fit the crossbody criteria. I notice that you’re referring to aud and in general there’s a crazy obsession with black coloured bags, I’ve seen people getting the velvet version which is very nice but I doubt it matches easily with T shirt and shorts in summer, we’re very casual after all.

Exactly what I was thinking for the past months! My friends keep telling me that it was a trendy bag and I should save for a Chanel flap bag. But I don't know, I love the designs, I'd like to have the shoulder bag in dusty pink, but my brain keeps telling me it was not a good purchase #stillconfused

I have chanel bags and tbh I wouldn’t recommend splurging on chanel if you’re after dusty pink. Gucci bags are more carefree and being at a lower price point will allow you to enjoy the bag without babying it.

I'm deciding if I should get the GG Marmont in the small or medium as it looks like my dream bag which I don't have the heart to splurge on yet, which is the Chanel Flap. Black leather and gold hardware just really represents me.

However, I'm the type of person who gets turned off when there's too many people wearing a certain clothing item. I feel like I'm late in getting my first GG Marmont as it's at its peak hype at the moment, and that it goes downhill from here. Do you think it will go out of trend soon or do you think it's a classic?

I had the same thoughts as you, however, I took the plunge and got the marmont nude small! I absolutely love it...even if it is more trendy. I think if you love the bag, get it! It’s very functional and versatile. When I was in the Gucci store, there were still tons of people in the marmont section trying on bags.

That's amazing! I'm deciding between that and the Givenchy Antigona. How's the quality/wear so far of your bag?

I've never seen a Marmont bag in the wild unless I'm carrying it
I have an Antigona too (which I plan to let go of) and I've certainly seen a few of them being carried. I'm letting go of the Antigona though because although it's classic and lovely to look at it's a structured and bulky bag, which I personally don't like to wear. I can vouch for the Marmont leather being hard wearing and the metal chain and logo is still looking good after two years of wear.
As others have already said, the style is a classic shoulder flap and given it has a much better price point than Chanel, IMO it will probably stay popular for a while.

I agree. Antigonas can look too much EXCEPT the mini. What size do you have?

And omg, I think I’m going to have to take a second look at the store because I’m soooo tempted to get a Marmont already

I bought my small size Antigona before the mini was available and I honestly can’t say anything bad about it except that it’s not for me
