Do you think LV resale is affected by new Micro chip authentication

Isn't this what conspiracy theories are made of? Microchips in our handbags track us everywhere we go :wtf: ;).
(Just joking)
My latest items have no date code either. I am not sure if this might affect selling them at some point, but since from now on all LV items will be treated this way, it will be common knowledge in the future.

It won't change anything. Counterfeiters have forged datecode tabs and they'll learn to copy this too. Shopping at resale sites have always been at-your-own-risk and that isn't going to change.

Or they'll just stick to forging the same old bags with datecode tabs.

i wonder if they will chip hard sided pieces, alzer etc? i have several and can't quite picture it.

Very good question. I was wondering too. I haven't heard of fake hardsided Vuitton, and those items always had true serial numbers, so I don't see the point of chipping them.

i've seen it, some quite close. they always miss the mark on the side latches/skeleton key lock though. i've never been able to figure out if the numbered sticker inside of hard sided pieces was a special kind of "datecode" or something else completely.

I hope with this development, LV will come up with an app where you can register your product and scan the chip eliminating the need to go to the physical store.

I always try to keep all the product inclusions including the receipt (for possible resale) so that my husband will know not to just throw them out or give them away when I die :angel:

I miss having the date code in the bag because it did feel special and I liked to know when and where the item was made. Apologies if this has already been mentioned and is old news...but I just received my first purchase since they removed the date code and it seems they now include the date code on the product sticker?

Here is the product sticker I received:

"UB2201" looks like the same format as the date codes did.

Oh wow! That seems right to me? Haven't seen that before! I also miss knowing when it was made.

Where is your item made?

Is it possible to have an SA scan the chip at the time of purchase to make sure the chip isn’t defective?? I am picking up my bag this week, but I wanna make sure the chip works before leaving the store.

I'm so confused about this chip thing. I just bought my first bag without a date code. How do I know where or when it was made? I have that barcode that came with the bag, but is that the same thing? It is M45352. I thought there were supposed to be 2 letters and three numbers. Also, none of my canvas print matches. I really want to keep this bag!
