Do you think it's possible to buy a fake LV bag from the LV store?

That’s how I feel about fake Kate spade and Tory Burch bags. I mean, those bags goes on sale enough to get a great bargain on authentic bags. I speak from experience. Also, I do not believe they sell fake stuff at LV boutique. They burn unsold inventory. I am pretty sure they either sell returned bags to SAs for a discount or burn them. I have heard some people get “used” bags from boutiques but personally, this has never happened to me. I have been shopping at various LV boutiques for 30+ years. Never had bad service or sold used bags. I am not sure if I am that lucky so I would think my experience is probably average.
I would love to believe that’s correct. Fortunately it has never happened to me with LV either, but I once bought a bag from another brand that had a used tissue inside.

I’ve returned things that they didn’t expect at all, they didn’t even take it into the back before giving me a refund. I’m an honest person, so I didn’t do this, but I bet someone could get away with it.

I once bought a Prada jacket and it came with condoms in the pocket. I didn’t even try it on. I ****ing returned it and took a hot long shower. ☹
That is insane. The bag I was referring to was from Vivienne Westwood. Not quite in the same price range as LV or Prada, but still horrific that there is absolutely no quality control especially with returns. Though it was long before Covid it was certainly a health hazard!

Not sure if the bag I brought was a return bag , I recently brought the on the go pm, and didn’t really inspect the bag at the store , but when I got home and open the bag, it had a very heavy perfume smell and there was white lint inside the bag, and the corners was dent. I texted my SA right away and she ordered me a new one. But this was the first time for me.

I’ll just leave this here: https://www.********.com/louis-vuitton-investigating-counterfeit-bag-sold-in-its-store/

I almost feel bad for LV. This is going to fuel a lot of people’s paranoia even though statistically this is unlikely to happen to any single individual. Kind of like traveling by air - quite safe but viewed as more dangerous than driving.

I just read the article on ********’s website. I don’t understand why anyone would buy a bag at LV and take it to an authenticator. If you had doubts about the bag being a counterfeit from the actual boutique, why would you buy it in the first place? Not siding with either LV or the buyer, but unless this person was on video the entire time from purchase to authenticator, how do we know buyer or authenticator didn’t swap the bag with a fake.

I read on Chinese social media that because the buyer was hang out with friend who had the same bag, they compared and found out buyer's looks different. That's the reason the buyer told to court. Another argument was buyer tried the bag in the boutique, took pictures. When she tried it on, the bag was real. Then SA took the bag to the back and pack it for buyer to take home so buyer didn't really see the whole process.

This is heavily discussed on Chinese social media especially because not long ago, one of the Gucci boutique (in China) was just caught had one employee being swapping fake to real bags for a period of time. (I forgot it was a month or a week)

The article seems pretty incomplete. How long after she bought the bag did she take it to the authenticator and how reputable was the authenticator. There have been posts here about authenticators and getting it wrong….I couldn’t even find a date on this story…

Perhaps that’s just one more reason in favor of chipping bags. Currently it’s a non issue as your chipped bag is now linked to your account. The team lead at my boutique mentioned they started the process of chipping bags years ago even though they still used date code tags.
