Do you think it's possible to buy a fake LV bag from the LV store?

The last time I returned a Louis Vuitton to the store, the SA inspected the bag thoroughly right in front of me.

SA’s usually give me the red carpet treatment for purchases or returns, but my bag was definitely inspected for cleanliness and authenticity inside and out, top to bottom. For what it’s worth, I don’t think it has anything to do with my appearance, i.e. profiling a certain “type,” as I am a well groomed, well dressed, fit, neat and clean, professional looking woman who gets compliments even from random strangers.

I would actually be surprised if they actually started a full inspection in front of the client...I would assume it will be done later in the back...I’m surprised people actually think they should do it the other way around. I can already see the complaints and problems if that happened

I recently watched a video on youtube about the history of LV. Aapparently LV is not that environmentally-friendly and to keep it's exclusivity, they will destroy all unsold seasonable bags. Can anyone confirm that they actually re-sell returned goods? Perhaps they destroy those too :P

Seeing how busy my local LV tends to get, I don't think they have that much time to thoroughly inspect the bag in front of you. Keep in mind LV has your profile, and like others said, they will likely flag you or ban you in the future. You can try to do it once, but you definitely can't do it twice. Plus i'm sure for every returned item, they sell a bazillion... it's a low risk situation. LV losing $2K on a fake returned bag is nothing to them.. if it helps them pinpoint the culprits. Chump change.

Louis Vuitton does destroy excess inventory to avoid discounting unsold goods and thereby diluting its brand value. Moreover, the destroyed inventory allows the company a big tax write-off.

Louis Vuitton does sell items that have been returned, as long as they are not damaged.

Not sure about LV - when I returned a bag to LV they hardly looked at it - but years ago I bought a Coach bag at Macys and when I took it to Coach they told me it was fake - so I bought a fake Coach at Macys. You never know - fakes are getting better and better.
I use to bring everything at Macy's and they really have quality products. I never had been at LV to have a bag or return bag, but I would in that at Macy's there are no fake coaches. Macy does provide store credits on the lowest price of your product within the last 180 days in case you don't have a receipt. For more return information call the customer service center or get through Macy's Return Policy.

If you guys have a recent piece from LV, go download a nfc reader in the App Store and scan it around your purse or wallet....
You’ll hear a beep once it detects a chip. That’s how LV knows the history of the bag.

Anyone on this forum can test this using their bags?
Anyone in this forum works for LV who can confirm that this is what they do in the back before doing the refund?

All the scammers and counterfeiters should get what they deserve...punishment.
Others with authentic pieces, enjoy your pieces in good health! Stay safe

Well, purely statistically, LV probably does take back a fake unwittingly once in a rare while.
Because they generally take it away and inspect it within an inch of its life before they’ll give you a new bag/credit/your refund/whatever it is, but not EVERY SINGLE TIME. We have established this in other threads, that sometimes they don’t inspect it very thoroughly right then.

So again, purely through numbers, if you do cursory returns enough times, some small percentage of those will be mistakes, especially if the SA was newish.

But at some point before returning the item to sales stock, it surely must be inspected more thoroughly. At THAT point is when they’re then going to find the vast majority of whatever small percentage of fakes made it past the initial return. They’ll destroy that piece, adjust their inventory, and take the hit. Probably notate the customer’s account and confer with the employee.
Let’s assume they DIDN’T inspect it for real afterwards and just put it back out. That same SA is unlikely to be the same one who handles it every time it gets brought out to show someone. One of the other SAs is going to catch it handling it.

Has it ‘ever’ happened that a piece got returned, didn’t get caught then, didn’t get caught before restocking, didn’t get caught by any SAs showing it, and didn’t get caught by the SA wrapping it to resell...? I mean....again, statistically it’s POSSIBLE, but highly unlikely.
It’s also statistically possible to be struck by lightning, be in a school bus accident and die in a killer bee attack in the same week, but the odds are small enough that for practical purposes you need not fear such a week.
Am so glad I found this post. I recently got flagged and was sent a letter from Lv saying a bunch of Nonsense that I had exceeded number of transactions. To basically don’t return to the store in 2 years. I was in shock because I had bought a few random stuff “ cosm pouch toiletry pouch wallet and a 2100 dollar bag. 3 online purchases that I returned unused and untouched basically. So am a hairdresser and My customers husband was at the local boutique sending her pictures. I told her if she gave him my number so the SA can ck why my account was blocked. The Sa told him that he wasn’t supposed to say anything but that my account was flagged because I returned a fake bag. So then I remember I bought a noe bb in damier azur and one day looking at the bag I noticed there was no date code. I called customer service. I had already had the bag for over 6 months and She said we can issue you a refund if you don’t feel comfortable keeping it that way. So I sent it back and got issued a refund. So now what? Is their word against mine. Am so extremely upset and humiliated. I plan on visiting the store so they can put a face to the account and tell me what is going on. They lack so much quality they can’t even recognize their own crap. Even if they unflag my account I won’t be buying a single thing at Louis Vuitton

So why bother? Just move on.

I am shocked that they would take a bag back after that long especially for a refund! If your returns outweigh your purchases yes they probably will ban you from purchasing for awhile, just like any other company. I also very surprised at the SA that gave your friend your personal information as to why you were banned. Were they claiming the azur noe was fake?

The idea of MK bags being fake makes me laugh why bother faking a Michael Kors bag?
That’s how I feel about fake Kate spade and Tory Burch bags. I mean, those bags goes on sale enough to get a great bargain on authentic bags. I speak from experience. Also, I do not believe they sell fake stuff at LV boutique. They burn unsold inventory. I am pretty sure they either sell returned bags to SAs for a discount or burn them. I have heard some people get “used” bags from boutiques but personally, this has never happened to me. I have been shopping at various LV boutiques for 30+ years. Never had bad service or sold used bags. I am not sure if I am that lucky so I would think my experience is probably average.
