Do you think about resale value when you buy a bag?

I've never thought about that at all when buying a bag. I buy for myself, not for others. For the older things hanging around, I'll ask around if anyone wants it and if not, I just put it in a donation pile or garage sale pile. There's no guarantee when I buy a bag that I won't spill something on it or scratch it up or something to make it not worth much anyway, I buy them to enjoy!

I never used to but I am so fickle, I lust after a bag, get it and realise I don't care for it as much a few months down the line by which time of course I can't return it. I have lost a fair bit of money so have decided to think more about how much money I can recoup from a bag before buying. Although like ayla said, bags are not really an investment and will be unlikely to increase/maintain their full value unless they are rare pieces.

I sometimes do. I have gotten to the point in my "obsession" where I try to sell one bag each time I buy one. I think I make it about half the time! But I can't carry them ALL at once, so if there is one that I have not carried in a while and don't think I will soon, I try to let it go. Although I just bought an MJ bag that will probably not hold a high resale value (but I sold a bag to get it), so I got a good, classic type bag that I can carry forever.

i never really thought about selling my bags
my husband seems to think that in a few years as most of my bags ie mostly Coach bags that aren't the ones that everyone else has color wise...will be worth a lot of money

we'll see what happens
but the way things are now
i'm buying them already marked down so i love them and they're worth a lot to me

I should but I don't. I rarely ever sell a bag that I owned unless I didn't carry it more than a couple times. I look more in terms of "Would I carry this 5 or 10 years from now?"

i do now, just in case i need to sell off all my bags to whatever reasons which i doubt i will. so now i just buy mostly LV bags coz their value just keep going up. for seasonal bags like Gucci, Prada, i would wait for the sale period.

no I don't... I am a collector than a seller....... maybe, when I am all old and not have anything to eat, maybe I will sell my bags.. until then, I will keep all of them... hehe

My taste of purses tend to be sometimes off the beaten path. I seem to like bags no one else does. So I buy bags just because I love them. I do end up selling alot of them because I never end up putting them to good use, but I never get the price I bought them for, or very rarely. I buy what I like and what I want. I can't be concerned what the next owner of my bag wants to pay for it.

I will reconsider the re-sell value. but rather than the value, I also consider the durability and is the style long-lasting enough.

In my own opinion, LV monogram/ damier, Balenciaga and Hermes are good investment. Marc Jacobs, Chloe, Fendi is more like a 1-2 season bag ( i mean some of the style).

On the other hand, i wont be too consider about the re-sell value for my Muse bag althrough I know it might not be as high as LV, or hermes. but I know i will use it for a few years so that's ok for me to investment on that. :P
