Do you take off your rings ?

I work at a jewelry store. We make a lot of money on repairs.

The number one way to ruin jewelry is to sleep in it. I have unfortunately seen an awful lot of jewelry abuse. And, we have to cut off a lot of rings. One thing that I've noticed is that no one seems to really pay attention to their watches. The gunk that builds up on the back and in between links of metal bands is astounding. Working there has really made me much more careful of what I have.

I take all rings and other jewellery off at night except my engagement ring (rubover setting) and wedding ring, although I do take those off when I'm doing the washing up. I was occasionally getting 'wedding ring finger dermatitis' which is itchy and no fun, but think taking them off when washing dishes helps, as well as regular cleaning.

I only ever wear a wedding band, and that's just to leave the house. Can't stand the feel of rings. The only jewelry I can sleep in lately is a small pair of diamond huggies, which haven't come out for about a month.

When traveling, anything I take off goes directly into a small pouch I keep in my handbag so I can't forget it.

I always take off my rings and bracelets when I get home because I am worried they will be ruined when I am doing housework, cleaning, cooking, etc. However I wear diamond studs and necklace 24/7. I have been wearing studs and necklace 24/7 since I was little and so far none has been ruined. The only time I take them off is if I go swimming.

I've seen other people here say they sleep with their diamond studs. I tried it and found it uncomfortable

Yes, me too, I can’t sleep with my stud earrings on. I always take them off because they are uncomfortable to sleep with. Also because don’t know why wearing earrings for too long make my ears itchy. Maybe I am allergic to the metal?

I used to wear my jewelry 24/7 and sometimes still do, but mostly I try to take it all off periodically, except my necklace, which has religious significance to me. That I leave on 24/7.

I go through phases where I leave my rings on for a long time, then I will take them off or just wear a very thin wedding band for days, because a stack of rings just feels like too much. Other times I take all of my rings off, because I am constantly washing my hands or using lotion. I do think it is probably a good idea to take them off before going to bed, but I can't say I have always done this.

Earrings, my diamond studs have screw backs, but even those have to be checked now and then, because they will loosen. I almost lost one of my larger diamond studs in the shower! I can sleep in the smaller sets, they are comfortable, but the bigger studs ( not so big by tpf standards!) are uncomfortable to sleep in at night. Screw back earrings have been great when I have had to wear a mask. I won't wear any other earrings, except screw backs, anymore if I have to wear a mask someplace. Too afraid of losing my other earrings. But I do go through periods when I can't stand having any earrings on either and I will take them off and leave them off for long periods of time.

I always take bracelets off. They bother me for some reason. Same with watches. I love wearing them out, but at night off they come.

My jewelry care habits are inconsistent. :-s

I take off my rings & whatever other jewelry I can take off when I come home.
I never cook with my rings on .
100% I take my hand and arm jewellery off to cook, clean and shower.
I don’t want stuff getting trapped in it.

I would also definitely recommend buying a couple of pretty dishes and trinket trays for around the house so you remember where you put them.

Love that tip! I've never thought of that. Gonna find some for placement near the sinks for sure. Thanks.
