Do you still buy silver pieces? or have you 'moved on'?

when I was younger everything I had was sterling silver (not Tiffanys though). Then as I got older I really really really love yellow gold, and I do prefer it even. However I am getting into Tiffany jewelry, so I am appreciating the silver again. Part of me feels a bit too "old" to be wearing the RTT collection (it was insanely popular when I was in middle school over 20 years ago but we were poor) but I've been reclaiming my childhood, so to speak

You’re never too old for pieces from this collection! Personally, I don’t think anything is necessarily too old or too young. It’s more about how each individual styles the item. I think that can be said for makeup, clothing, footwear, or even hair. So, find a piece that makes your heart sing, and find a way to style it so it looks good on YOU! For example, when I got my RTT heart necklace years ago, I created it myself. I purchased a longer chain (a beaded chain) and a larger heart. I have had it for about 9 years, and I still love it. The necklace is very casual and looks great with a variety of outfits. But I know that the same wouldn’t be true had I gone for a more original/classic version (i.e., a choker with a toggle clasp). At the end, it really is about what’s going to make you happy and giddy. Go for it and enjoy!

I still love Tiffany silver jewelry. The pricing is insane though!I’ve stopped buying it.

Plenty of it on the pre-loved market with great deals... They're all over the place as a lot of people indeed "move on" from them.
Even since the recession started there's been a lot of action on that front...
I've plunged back for myself and my nieces who are coming up in age...

I stopped buying silver in my early 20s. Actually don’t have much silver except for this silver pearl necklace my mom got me and this sentiments Pandora bracelet that I wear once in awhile.

Maybe ‘cause the silver pieces that I do like are more higher end brands like DY and Tiffany&Co so they just feel insanely pricey, especially for silver these days.

Once I’ve hit mid 20s I’ve stuck to solid yellow, rose, and white gold/platinum. I just turned 30 last week and my parter and best friend were both generous enough to purchase jewelries for me. My partner surprised me with the Cartier love ring. Although expensive, I knew I would wear it on the daily and cost per wear will eventually make up for it (hopefully 🥲). My best friend bought me the Tiffany’s mini double heart tag necklace in silver. A dream necklace of mine when I first started to get into name brand/luxury jewelries, never end up buying and just continued to watch the price increase. I think when I first wanted this piece it was $150, now it’s almost $300?! My best friend also went a step crazier and purchased the one with a tiny diamond. 💸 💸

Sometimes I still get the itch to want to purchase a silver piece, but after I received my new Tiffany necklace, which I love so much and will always treasure, I’ve concluded that silver jewelries is just absolutely not for me. I’ve purchased gold from non name brand jewelries and the quality and longevity just makes more sense to me.

We’re all at a different budget point. But I feel like if you want to purchase a piece but can’t afford it for now and want to just settle for silver, don’t! But if you have the budget to really not have to think about it, go for it!

But in the end, I’m all for making sure you really love the piece and can see yourself wearing it often, that’s the fun part about jewelries. Hate to see any jewelries just collecting dust after the lust is gone.

Your post resonated with me and I agree the prices for SS is insanely pricey these days. I am happy with the SS I have in my collection from Tiffany and Pandora as I thoroughly enjoyed wearing them. There is more upkeep in owning silver as some of my pieces do tarnish. Most appear to have the rhodium plating to avoid this. It is only a couple of pieces though and it isn't too much trouble using the silver sparkle dip to get it shiny again. If there was silver piece I was interested and is missing in my collection, I wouldn't say no to it but owing silver for years, I prefer a less hassle free jewelry item. When I compare SS to WG/Platinum, there is no denying the shine and sparkle of WG/Platinum. Silver tends to look dull and grey over time even if you clean it. I've noticed that with Tiffany chains.

Agreed on the points of the YG, RG and WG/Platinum, it maintains it look and all it takes is just a rinse of water or diamond or gold jewelery cleaner to have it look brand new again. No need to worry about tarnishing except the rhodium plating might wear with WG though (it hasn't happened to me so far). I've been told that RG will change color over an extended period of time; it won't be immediate, more like 8 - 10 years.

Lastly, don't settle for an item because it is at a lower price point. Of course, one must buy within their budget.

Last week I had a button down top on and said I wish I had a sort of choker to wear with this. I pulled out my oval tag RTT necklace and polished it up and added the bracelet. We my son's girlfriend came over (she's 24), she gasped and said my jewelry was amazing. I feel like I got it in 2002, in NYC and it was such a big deal. Honestly, I loved wearing it again! When I saw the current prices I couldn't believe how high they are! I also still wear the double heart, with one silver and the other Tiffany blue, with the matching earrings. I have plenty of white gold and rose gold pieces from the big designer houses but there is still a time and place where I love the RTT sterling pieces.

Hi All !

I am wondering for those of you who are blessed to have a few TCo pieces. Did you 'move on' from silver pieces? Do you purchase silver items still? Or did you move onto gold/rose gold/platinum and not look back?

I am asking as I have a variety of different pieces. I havent bought silver for a while, but there has been a few silver statement pieces I am tempted by. Which surprises me because i thought I had graduated. I still wear the silver pieces i bought a number of years ago, if i still like them.

Looking for opinions and your personal stories.
I do not buy silver anymore, mainly because I lean toward warm toned colors now.
