You’ll ruin the bag! And the aesthetics of a Birkin as a shoulder bag doesn’t look right either.
There are other Hermes bags better suited to both hand and shoulder carry—Bolides and Kellys actually work.
My violet B25 has been modified. (prior owner...don’t come for me please, I didn’t know until purchase...yes, I read my reseller for filth and got a massive discount) there are two round grommets on either side. One at the front end, one back end to balance the strap. I don’t like it, I think it looks tacky...but for longer treks when I want an open bag, I grab this one instead of my k32s (my k35 is 1960s...so no strap)

There seems to be a current trend to add a strap and/or turn every bag into a cross body. I think that ruins the line of the clothing as well as the bag. I can understand the need for practicality but still.
Sorry I wouldn’t do it but curious why people doing it and the reasons behind .... there are many H bags made with the straps... would like to see photos ...
There is no strap that could hold mine because I load those suckers up Not that I would use a strap in any case because I use my Evelyne if I need cross body.
