Do you lie about the authenticity of your bag?

no i am not going to lie, but i am not going to flaunt it either... if someone notices and asks, i will not lie.. i have what i have for me and i actually find it quite rude when someone asks if my bag is real or how much i paid for the bag and say, "you paid how much for that bag? that is a rent, or a mortgage of 2 car payments, a month's worth of groceries BLAHBLAHBLAH"... i dont care about what bag they have and they shouldn't give too much attention to what i have either. like i said, i buy my LV's for me!

I wouldn't/have never said my bag was fake. I refuse to tell people how much my bags/shoes/accessories cost, that's my business, unless of course they are interested in getting one for themselves... I only have a few friends who I tell the value of my items, but they have a similar socio-economic background, and love for fashion :smile1:

I will not tell them it is fake, just that I got it for a great deal. If anyone in my town or family even recognizes my bag (Chloe paraty), which has not happened to me yet, I will just tell them I got it way on sale (truth - only 10% off) but saved up for it as well (also truth). I don't need to add that I sold my collection of unused bags in my closet to fund this purchase as well. I love my bag & know it will be used for many years to come.

My thought is just this: If I save my money, I can buy whatever bag I want. Also I do not receive jewelry, vacations, gifts from my DH, so I also feel that this could be my new anniversary ring/10 year anniversary vacation/valentines/christmas/birthday gifts that I never receive! My DH is the best in every other way - just not gifts! So that is my justification!:sneaky:

I never lie about the authenticity of my bags but, if asked prices I don't go into it, I just refer them to the website so that way we don't have to stand and debate what I spend my hard earned money on.

This is an interesting thread and very informative about safety :).

Last week we were at a friend's house for a bbq/get together and my friend's sister asked, "Is that your Louis Vuitton??" She loved the bag and was really sweet in complimenting then she put her own bag down, that my Louis beat out her Coach or something like that. It made me very uncomfortable and made me even regret bringing my LV. No way would I ever put down anyone's bag, my bff would carry around a grocery sack for a bag~she is NOT into bags at all, kwim? So to hear another woman almost insult her own bag made me sad. I don't carry LV to one up anyone and at that moment I almost wished the sister assumed it was a fake.

Not exactly said a bag was fake, but lied about the price,I had a Marc Jacob Stam bag (I was only 15 at the time), and some friends asked how much it cost, I said my mum had stopped using it so gave it to me

It's weird but no one has ever asked me if my bags were real, I think that's because I only own Ebene and Azur bags and they are not as well known as Mono bags. Where I live most people don't know that Louis Vuitton makes other prints besides Mono. But if someone would ask me if my bag was real, I would say yes because there's nothing wrong with owning a real Louis Vuitton bag if you worked or saved up for it. That's just my opinion but I think that everyone should decide for themselves where they want to spend their money on :smile1:

i've never lied about my bags. fortunately, i've never been in a situation (and hope never to be in a situation) where i have felt the need to lie about my bags in fear of my own safety.

I've definitely 'implied' mine was fake when asked by a stranger in a shopping centre. My Mom had warned me (I don't live there anymore) that young girls in gangs were targeting people with expensive items and then following them outside to their cars. Definitely safety first...

Never. I work really hard for my bags & accessories & am proud to tell people they're real - if they ask. If someone was looking to steal it, however, then I'd lie! Though sometimes the price "drops" if I need it to... :amuse:
