Do you let other people try on your rings?

honestly, i like it when other people try on my ring! most people won't ask, but i actually enjoy seeing my ring on other people, so i can admire how it looks on other people :shame:. i have a couple of girlfriends who love wearing my rings, and it makes me happy to let them try it on or wear it for a little bit to see how it feels. i get to enjoy it every day, why not let them enjoy it for a few minutes! I've let friends try it on for size of the band, size of the stone, or even just the general look of it. I'm the only person i know personally who has a radiant stone, so i know people who just want to see that stone in particular. i've had friends wear my ring when doing something for which i usually take my rings off (like a friend who loves to wear my rings if i'm doing her hair - i don't want to get styling products all over them). i don't believe in the bad luck. i let plenty of people try my e-ring on before i was married, and i think i have one of the strongest relationships out there! i would have been upset, however, if someone had tried on my e-ring before i got it...that's my own personal opinion! i personally have never asked anyone if i could try on their ring...i don't mind being asked but i know most people do, so i wouldn't even dream of it! if u're not comfortable, just say so, and if u're like me, enjoy seeing the sparkle on someone else's hand:yes:

I haven't yet let someone try it on (ok take that back, we tried to put it on vlad's pinky but it did not go far down at all!).

I don't mind showing people, but I do think if it is not someone I know well it would be weird.

I had a friend of a friend who I'm not that close with AT ALL ask to try on my e-ring after she went on about how much she wants her boyfriend to propose. I said no. She then let me know how "ALL" her girlfriends let her wear their rings. The guilt didn't work. Which I was pretty proud of. My e-ring and wedding ring hold a lot of meaning for me and I think it's ok that I don't just let anyone wear them.

I'd let my younger sisters try on my rings but that's probably it. Even my right hand ring. My husband got it for me on our honeymoon so it's special too.

I'm very OCD about my stuff. I don't mind showing people, but I can't stand it when they start to paw. Drove me nuts when we first got engaged when people would grab it by the center stone or twist it all over my finger. I felt very violated if anyone asked me to try it on. My sister, fine. Colleagues, no!

I've been told it's bad luck to let someone else try on your e-ring. Has anyone else heard this? I'm not superstitious, but I hate people trying on my things, so I guess I would say no, no jewelry sharing for me.

I've heard this, so when people tell me to try theirs on, I tell them no. I don't want any bad luck for me or them. LOL. I am not usually superstitious either. When I get engaged there is no way in hell I am risking it...just in case.

ITA! I have a close GF and when we have dinner we actually switch rings for a it so we can enjoy each other's rings and so we can enjoy looking at our rings in action frm a different perspective, it's fun!

OK, that's just weird! LOL!
I mean my good friends can try it on. . . for 5 seconds, except my GF I mentioned above.
But a guilt trip or asking to WEAR it. . . that's just weird!

it really depends on my mood. I try to be generous and remember it's just a thing, but still...there are times when i just get annoyed. When I was engaged I really didn't want anyone trying on my e-ring, because of the bad luck thing, I didn't know it was necessarily a Thai custom though, I just thought it was a general superstition....

I agree with every single word!!!

:yes::tup:

It depends upon the person. I have let people I'm close to try on my rings. My ring size is 4.5 and most people I know can't wear that size anyway. I have had the "hand grab" and folks touching my rings. I don't really mind because I can always clean them right up;)

I let my daughter try on my rings, but nobody else. I don't like other people to handle my things in general. As for a stranger asking to try on my rings or grabbing at my hands, I would probably be quite short with somebody like that.

I once had a friend's mom ask to try my ring on (I was 15) and she pretended not to be able to get it off and said she'd have to keep it :weird: It was just a joke, of course, but it made me uncomfortable and I haven't let anyone try my rings on since. Actually, I never really wear rings anymore, they tend to make people ask if I'm engaged or it's a promise ring no matter what fingers I wear them on, and since I'm currently single that isn't an impression I want to give off :p I did wear one once last winter, though, and when some guy kept staring at me in a really creepy way, I took my gloves off and exposed my ring, and he instantly walked away :laugh: The guy was hot, though, I only did it as an experiment and it worked :laugh:
