Oh, I agree. I was an adult but I and my friends at least acted the part, no hysteria for us. Hopefully you don't remember the cabbage patch craze or Elmo. People throw reasoning out the window. Maybe it is just a chance for some to think they now have something everyone else has. When I was a kid it was troll dolls and now Stanley cups. There will always be something.Look- as long as people are enjoying themselves, I'm all for it. I just worry when it crosses into that crazy place of people spending way more for a plushy than is reasonable or fist fighting people over the last one in the store. The beanie baby thing just went way too far! I was still a kid, and I remember thinking, "These people are the adults in charge??? What is even happening???"

I actually really like the designs of the Wacky Mart series which released a few hours ago, but it was impossible to buy sth on the webpage.
Already had my cart packed. Hit refresh the second it launched (got up at 4am for that. 😅🥲) - and it was instant sold out.
Now I understand what people mean with impossible to buy at Popmart… We unfortunately do not have any physical stores in my country.
Those are so cute I totally want them, so I caved and ordered them from a reseller… Now excited to see if I get the real deal or some monstrosity…

Thank you! I am trying to make a conscious effort to shop my closet and swap my work bags every week. The Celine Mini Luggage was one of my favourite bags when I first got it during its heyday (so much so, that I had to pop out during my lunch break and travel across the capital to pick it up, as it could only be reserved for 2 hours...), so I need to keep in rotation and not neglect it so much haha!
Our house went Labubu crazy over the weekend. My daughter has 2, I have 4, my partner has 1 that is full decked in LV, and we have a Messi Argentina kit on the way to put on a Labubu for my son. I am excitedly going to get an outfit for my "Luck". I am thinking a white Chanel outfit. My Dada has a black and white Chanel outfit and my Soymilk has a red Dior. The reason I am not satisfied is because I need a Lychee Berry and keep buying blind boxes.
This is why I'm happy with my Fufus. They look good and are cute.
I'm anti fakes in general, but in this case...I think they are just the same cheap junk no one will care about next year.
I won't put much effort in getting the real ones if they are not available in a proper way, and I will not stalk their site in the middle of the night for the next drop.
I gave away a labubu to an old student of mine. He was over the moon! haha, immediately clipped it onto his backpack.
It was one of the duplicates I had from a blind box so didn't mind giving it when he asked.
The excitement of hunting them down is definitely there. I was more exciting when I was able to get the limited edition ones than actually owning them, which is why I ended up giving them to other people.
There is only so much effort I'll take to get one though. I don't mind stopping by a Popmart store and being able to buy what I see is available (that's how I got 2 checkmates and 1 wings of forture), by pure luck. But I am not willing to wait for hours in line at a drop or anything intense like that.
Btw when I got the 2 checkmates and wings of fortune, they were the last ones on the shelf. I could feel angry eyes staring at me from behind.
They know labubus are coveted though, so it's not a grab-it-yourself sort of thing. They have them on the shelf behind the checkout, so you need to wait in the checkout line and request. And once I got to the front, they weren't sold yet, so I got them.
I have friends who are devoted enough to wait in line and I'm okay with buying from them.
And then, as I said before, much easier to buy in Asian from the store or resellers.
