I am very careful in the rain and make sure I always have an umbrella or plastic bag just in case. If we're going to have days of rain, I have several large all weather leather D & B totes that I can use and that works out well.

I wouldn't carry my crocodile bags in the rain. I read somewhere (probably on tPF) that with glazed croc, the water can get trapped under the glaze and "stain" the purse. I was very upset when it started raining a little in New York yesterday and I had my red glaze croc purse. Luckily I found a cab quickly! :yahoo:

I will basically carry any of my other purses in the rain.

I'm very protective of my bags! I always carry a dustbag inside of them. I never take my favorite bags out with me when it rains/snows/etc. My suede bags only come out with me when I'm sure the weather will be good. :smile1:

Ah, a good one for the Seattle crowd :p .

Any suede bag is a no-no in the rain for me. But most will dry out and look OK after a brushing with a suede brush (similar to shoes).

For rainy days? Patent leather holds up beautifully with a quick wipe down once you get indoors.

I would never expose my Mulberry Roxanne to rain. Every raindrop gets very visible on the darwin leather.
Unfortunately, the weather in Norway, where I live, is quite unstable, so it can be hard to avoid...

Oregon is nothing but rain in the winter/fall/spring so there is no way I could retire my bags for half a year or more!

I just see it as I paid that much for it then I better get my money's worth.
hear hear! with only two seasons (wet and wetter) speedy would never see the light of day if i refused to carry her in the rain for fear of spotty vachetta. so far no spots though. :shrugs:

i won't buy suede bags b/c i don't want to deal with them in the rain. rain is actually the first thing i think about when wanting something, be it shoes, bags, clothes or coats.

my Hermes "herbag" in blue/purple multi-colored suede is the only bag i won't carrry in the rain. the birkin, however, is a perfect bag for rainy days, it can withstand anything!
Jimmy Choo bags are also really good in the rain, both of mine have held up really well.
