Do you feel guilty about money spent on designer bags?

I do but I also buy for others so that we can share the guilt together!! :D

It's a gd feeling seeing them carrying it instead of me even though I'm the one paying for it! (only for family members). They will not ever pay for them as they hv other priorities but 1 designer bag is a must for everyone while I stl can afford to pamper them.

I never feel guilty, as long as I maintain savings on the side and never buy a new bag unless the old one goes back into the market. I am basically rolling my monies...needless to say, I am never faithful to any bags....yet

Recently with the news talking about the famine in Africa it has made me reflect and feel a twinge of guilt over being a purse nut:nuts::woot:. Infact, I do not think that I am going to buy another handbag this year and will donate to a charity to help with the famine. Anyone else feeling guilt over high end handbags and wanting more? I think that I am evolving. Don't get me wrong I lvoe handbags and think that they are walking forms of artwork. Just right now they are not everything and I do not need the latest and greatest LV every season. Being satisfied and drooling over others reveals is enough for the moment. Thinking out loud....;)

Totally agree! My husband and I have always been big donors to many organizations in our community...one being for special needs children (we have a 20 yr.old, who is mentally 2-4yrs old). Therefore, life looks very different to us than many. I sometimes treat myself when I'm having a rough time dealing with my situation, but I always make sure I help someone else who is in a situation worse than mine!:smile1:

Beggarbaby said it so well. Another consideration is that your bag purchase supports a craftsman, who then uses his/her pay to support another craftsman or farmer or whoever who then purchases yet another item to help support someone else and on and on.
For me, balance has been key. I build a charity allowance into my budget every month. I also raise money for charities in addition to donating clothing and household items to local charities for resale.
Bless you for recognizing others needs and questioning what you can do, I hope you find your own balance.

Yes, I do feel guilty. But if you do ask around, everybody has a certain 'weakness' or even vice. Nobody's perfect. So long as I don't incur debt. I use my own money to pay for the bags/things I love. And I don't really spend much on clothes and shoes anyway. It somehow made me feel better. Also yes, I'm aware of the famine situation in South Africa. I am deeply affected and sadden to read that a lot of children have died. I have already made a donation. Should I get a job soon, I hope to help by donating more. I would also pray for the people especially the children there. At least I try to think more before I decided to buy another bag.

Hi Ladies!!

Was wondering if any of you ever feel guilty about splurging on a new expensive bag that you really didn't need???

I just bought the Chanel GST in dark Navy and am now feeling very guilty about spending so much on the bag when i already have a few Chanels, some bought quite recently!

Lemme know what you think!!

I have this feeling all the time! I can afford the bags I buy or else I wouldn't buy them but this meeting can ALWAYS be put to another use (extra mortgage payment, savings, kids college fund etc).

That is my current dilemma right now!

Can I afford the bags? Most definately!
Do I want the bags? Yes, of course!
Do I need the bags? Well, not really.

I don't know what it is, but I do feel guilty about buying these bags for myself. Sure the money can go to another cause...vacation, the kids, etc. but yet I want these bags.

Maybe I feel guilty because the bags are so expensive. I never feel guilty when the bags are cheap, I don't even waiver about it. However, with expensive bags, I always wonder if it's worth it? Would these bags be the end of my obsession with bags?

I don't have many bags, but quite enough. All different, all unique in their own way and all serves its own purpose. I research bags, making sure I love it and want it, but still, at the end of the day, I feel torn about spending so much money on a bag.

I"m in complete agreement with ACS. Now that I have multiple bags, I'm honestly not sure what to do with them. I don't use a handbag during the week because I have a work tote I put everything in. So that leaves only the weekend, where I'm usually just hanging out in jeans or whatever. I feel kinda silly toting around a nice leather/designer bag when in jeans and sneakers.
