Do you ever feel like your CL walk a line between chic and slutty?

I don't feel slutty at all in my heels. I dress conservative, and CL's add a punch to the outfit. At work people do tend to look straight down at my feet to see what heels I'm wearing for the day. Someone even made a comment that my Iowa Zeppas look like hooker shoes. I didn't even care because the way she dresses she could use some hooker shoes in her life.

:roflmfao:

you know i almost posted this a few times. this past weekend i went to a party for a client. my mom's best friend and her husband were there (that's how i was referred to the client in the first place). anyway i wore a very simple black faux wrap dress that was knee length and my new black armadillos. i felt sleek and dressed up but also somewhat casual. the host ended up telling me i was very dressed up. whatever. anyway my mom's best friend is about 15 years older than me, maybe a little less. i went to get something to eat and when i come back she starts raving about my shoes. how 40s glamour they are and how she loves the red soles. she turns to her husband who usually buys her all her designer stuff because he cares and she doesn't and asks him to buy them for her. she's super excited and telling him "these! i want these!" and he says to her "i'm not buying you those" and she asks why and he says "because i don't need my wife to look like she works at scores" (a strip club in nyc). i was FLOORED. so offended. she made a joke about it and i know he's a jerk to begin with but who says that? UGH. well, you know what- i'll take it. if it means i look sexy and like i could possibly have a body that's strip worthy- sign me up! lol.

^ That was rude and offensive  But on the other hand, I guess it just meant that he doesn't want other men oogling his wife because of her sexy shoes, so there might be a compliment baked in there somewhere :p

Well, who is he and do you want me to hit him for you????? I will!!!!
Men are sometimes so ignorant to style. He just said something stupid because he does not want his wife to look that hot. Men say things differently than women. Obviously the woman was in tune and sounds classy. Don't be offended, he was just "one of those"
Listen, my DH told me one pair of mine looked like drag queen shoes.
Your outfit sounds chic and total class!

hlfinn- Well that wasn't very classy of him!!! That's one of the classiest shoes that Louboutin makes IMO. Wow.. just makes me wonder what people around here.. in MS.. think of me... Geez.

"i don't need my wife to look like she works at scores"

Honestly. You shold have smiled sweetly and replied "goodness, you seem to know a lot about what girls at Scores wear!"

What a jackass. If he knew how much your shoes cost he would suddenly have a new respect, I guarantee you.

Chich or slutty - that depends on the entire outfit and the person.
However I think sometimes the shoes would be a bit more harmonious in the shape if the heels were slightly shorter, but equally thin.

I do find myself feeling a little slutty sometimes. Between my long blonde hair, my ginormous ta-tas, and my 4ft legs I never look normal in an outfit! Skirts are usually just a little too short, blouses a little too tight, and when I add my 4.5" VPs to it, I am pretty much walking that line. Its like Pam Anderson in a suit. The outfit is conservative, but you just cant hide what God gave you!

So I agree with Keya, I have to downplay my shoes alot, becuase sometimes they are overkill.

This is also my neurotic paranoia talking, so I could be seeing myself alot differently than other people do. But I'll be damned if I am going to stop wearing them!

What a great thread! I will probably never wear the 120mm CLs without the man right near by, and certainly not alone late at night...they are a bit dangerous! but that is what makes it fun, right? And getting attention could be a positive or neg...all depends on your state of mind as some of the ladies in this thread point out.

And I enjoyed the comment of "she needs some hooker shoes in her life"....HEHEHE. Isn't it funny how some people cannot be content without trying to insult another person...it's pretty clear she is jealous of how good you look! And especially when you factor in the high-end "status" of a CL...envy can be expected!

i've thought about this. At work one day (during orientation), I was dressed very conservatively (including hair, nails, makeup, jewelry, and bag), but wearing my nude declics- one of the other women (not in charge, but "higher up" and training me....hospital pecking order) told me that "although it was business casual here, there is a difference between that and PARTY casual"...in front of a group of fellow trainees.....I didn't think I looked bad!
