I was just wondering if anyone dresses up when the know they are going to a designer store to make a purchase?

I always get coments such as 'OMG is that what you wore to LV/Gucci/Versace etc, you look like a tr*mp' by my family and friends.

I would say 50% of the time I enter these store without make up, messy tied back hair, trainers, vest, cargdi and sweat pants. Just like today when I went LV on my way to work. My job invovles me to travel and carry things a lot around London so I like to feel comfortable and moveable.

But am I supposed to dress up if I know I am going to one of these store?

Why should your clothes matter?

I remeber one time actually about six years ago. I enter Dior on my way home dressed like this (well actually one of my trainers were ripping apart because me friends dog got a hold of it) and had one SA follow me around the whole store and giving me funny looks. When I asked her see that bag (i pointed to a small evening leather saddle bag) she said 'oh that bag is very expensive'. I purchased the bag but never went into their store ever again for that reason and because the rhinstones started falling apart after one use.

I certainly don't. I come as I am - but then again, i don't wear workout clothers or the likes if Im not going to work out... So it's me in either my work clothes or jeans. I think I'd feel weird to dress up to go to a store, unless it was a store EVENT I was invited to - then I'd make an effort.

I usually dress in an outfit that would help me decide if the bag I am interested in works for me. Does that make sense? In other words, casual dress if I'm searching for jeans and t-shirt kind of bag, more dressy if I'm looking for a dressy bag.

Haha...I totally dress up but I think its because I have all these nice clothes and no where to go. Shopping days are my most dressed up hah. I agree with SDBagLover too, I definitely try to wear the colors and material I need to help me better choose an item. Such a great question though!

I wouldn't say I dress up, but I would never wear what I wear around my house. I wouldn't want to have a Pretty Woman moment (when she goes into the fancy store wearing her prostitute outfit) and the SA's would be rude to me for not wearing something appropriate. I usually wear Levi's or 7's with a shirt, flats/wedges and an LV, or usually just a summer dress (I live in Florida so obviously I always wear clothes appropriate for the weather). I would never wear sneakers or sweats to LV. :nogood:

I always like to look nice and pulled together--I don't neccessarily "dress up" but I do always look stylish. I would wear fitted jeans, heels, and pretty top. Oh, and accessories. And like the poster above me, I would NEVER wear sweats or hanging out on the sofa clothes!

can you go in a pair of nike shox to a lv store i have very bad flat feet and i am fat i said it yes im fat . so the only time i wear heels or boots is to church i live in nike shoes. i just buy my bags online i do not want to be turned away . but i have to say i went to orlando and went to the LV store and everyone was nice i had on jeans and a tee shirt from the park

It depends on who I am with. If I am shopping with my family (2 small kids) I wear what is comfortable. If I am shopping with a girl-friend, I am probablly dressed up just for the heck of it. I love to dress up whenever I get the chance but it's not specifically for LV.
