Do you carry two bags to work? Purse and tote, etc?

I decided to resurrect this thread to see what people are carrying to work these days. I finally got a Rory, and it's really not the ideal bag for me. Maybe a Saffiano tote. But I honesty think it's my handbag of the moment coupled with a simple tote that does the job. But maybe there's a new coach option I'm not away of. I actually have a Leah tote from the outlet that works very well, but I'm pretty over the signature fabric. Anyway, answer if you wanna. :-)

Maybe a tote with a clutch might be the answer

You can have the clutch tucked away in the tote and pull it out when needed

I carried my MK mono jet set sip top for 6+ months. I have to open my bag when entering and leaving work at security so I only carry one that fits my wallet,2 wristlets, makeup bag,2 glasses cases and a sweater if needed. I'm going to use a saffiano tote now.

Check out the clearance section of the outlets (if you go to the outlet).
They usually have a lot of mff totes at good prices.
I just found one recently at a great price, but when I got home I had second thoughts, (do I really need another tote?) Two days later I needed a nice strong tote, not too big, some structure, etc. and luckily that tote was just the thing and it worked out great. LOL, I guess I did need just one more tote...

I carry a Saffiano city tote in gunmetal, the kind with the crossbody strap and handles, for my lunch, my coffee mug, my shoes. It's a fabulous bag and can take the elements. I even got a second one, in camel, for the summer months! You can carry it in your hands or sling it over your shoulder and leave it unzipped if you really need to stuff it.
Then for all my other, regular stuff I usually take one of my satchels. Or some other handbag, whatever I feel like using that day.
I only do it because I hate carrying all my work "stuff" in a plastic tote or some such when I'm using one of my nice Coach bags for everything else. It just doesn't seem right! :)

I carry to work whatever bag I happen to be using. Since I don't bring my laptop home with me often, I don't need a "work" bag ("work bag" and "purse" are the same thing to me!) I also don't bring a lunch. But when I bring my laptop home or if I bring a lunch with me, I just carry those items in their bag.

I hate hauling around multiple bags so I try to bring as few things with me to work as possible! I've seen people bring 4-5 bags on public transit to work and that's just too much.

I just bought a Park hobo at the outlet over the weekend to take my writing papers up to NYC next week. I decided to get more grown up this trip. I never use a big bag so I'm a little freaked out as the SA at the outlet can attest to while I was deciding which bag would work for me on the plane and in the city. My Legacy swingpack will be out the minute I hit the hotel as I don't like a lot of stuff in one bag.

For work every day, I bring my Coach purse and then I have a Rickshaw messenger bag I personalized at Zazzle for my other things.

I thought of this idea of the last few days....I carry my baby bag for work which is lined is lined waterproof for spills. I find it works great! I use one pocket on each side for keys and cell phone. I have noticed though that when I go for a coffee I find I want something smaller for my wallet and phone, so a clutch seems ideal.

I totally understand what you mean about how it doesn't seem right to carry some other generic tote for other things.

I carry a purse and I use a thirty one tote to work for my extra shoes, lunch bag, extra gloves and hats and more. I do not like to over load my purse with things that could get it dirty or that will make it too heavy.
