Did you try to resale your bag?

sold my first ever Birkin to someone who'd been saving for years to get a Birkin. I probably undercharged a little bit. But she cried tears of happiness to have the bag (she actually posted it on YouTube!). I'd rather see that than spend my energy trying to make money off my bags. Most of them go to friends at fair prices that leave everyone feeling happy.
This is so nice! ITA with this philosophy!

I'm against resaleing personally. And always wonder how come Personal shoppers go away with it! Having all hermes bag in many colors and sell them with premium and they never been blocked! I see couple of them even take pictures inside hermes boutique! Where it is usually not allowed to take pictures of the bags!
They get the chance to view many bags and get many colors options! I guess one reason because of thier unhealthy huge profile they have with the boutique which make them a vip! In reality they put all thier customers purchase under thier names which make it unhealthy profile!

My question is not about what you just mentioned. It is more about do you get a premium really or not! Even for a new not used bag.
The people that you mention are not 'Personal shoppers' They are resellers.
Personal shoppers are quite different to people who go and buy bags and sell them on

I sell bags I no longer love or that dont work for me via Vestiere concierge service.
They DO take a hefty commission but it works for me as they photograph the bag, list it and deal with all negotiations (I use them to sell my clothes and shoes too)
I sold an unused YSL black leather duffle bag with papers and everything it cost £1500 and I got about £350 for it in the end.
ditto a Bottega bag I paid about £1600 for and only wore half a dozen times, again I sold that with the mirror (unused still with protective film on),cards, etc etc and got a fraction of what I'd paid.
but If something just doesn't work for me I prefer to let it go...the money goes in my Hermes fund.
I try not to think about the money I've 'lost' but to think that I've created space for something I will love.

I think it's a healthy way of looking at it, and in all honesty, if a bag doesn't work for you, it is money wasted...

I disagree  I don't think the comparison fits. We all know that Hermes has a different game than all other brands
These personal shoppers know they are working eventually towards buying birkins and kellys only to resell - and that is where they make their money!
If you watch their posts and stories you will see that they get offered multiple birkins and kellys and they list them for sale immediately on the spot
They even say "ready for first cash transfer"!

And They Sell it for double! And they even ask what color you want!? They can get any color most of the time!!!!

They are making money for H on a regular basis, seriously, if you do the same (the are a company, therefore they want to make a profit) they will do the same for you, look, if you were H, what would you do? Stop the people who boost your brand even more, or stop the occasional person trying to make a profit? This concept does work for H and will continue to work as long as demand outstrips supply, from a commercial POV, for the moment it is brilliant, however I have a feeling that things might be shifting a bit

This not fair to real clients and doesn't make a fair comparision on profiles! When a person is buying for themselves soooo different than person buying under one profile for 1000 persons!
Maybe hermes can show more to the clients who really want to the bags to themselves! And not turn them away ! And make for them the only option reslatters.
H also in this way promotes the realsalers.
I agree what makes everyone want H is the exclusivity and not easy to get.
This makes the bag specail and high price tag is acceptable by client.
But I really think that H is losing the relationship with thier real clients and will end up with a database of majority are the releaselers! Those are the VIPs in H now.
And not the real client the real VIP !

we are talking about a company who prides itself on exclusivity and that’s the appeal, it works for them, plenty of VIPs carrying the bags. It keeps the price up, because somebody wants it more, they will not change the business model. It actually boosts their busi mode, why on earth would they change it? It fuels sales, people are buying what they put out, even if they don’t want it, it’s not about fairnes, it’s about keeping your brand in demand, it works for H

I'm sure no one will suggest that H to change thier business model for sure!
I buy H bags from 20 years a go and only in the recent few years I see resalers this much! And I see that H is losing the interaction with the real client.
That's my thoughts
But anyway the thread is more about that from ppls experience we see that know one said they sold it for more! And gain profits. So it is not an investment!
But we can consider it a good buy in many cases when prices go up year by year and we think oh ! I bought for 10K pounds and now it is 26K pounds!
That's true in my case kelly cut full crocodile gold HW I bought it for only 9000 pounds! Everytime I wear it I get complements and it is like new and now look at the price went up more than double!

I agree with what has been said about buying to enjoy the bag instead of buying to resell. I buy because I want the bag, not because I want to make money off of it. I’ve resold enough bags to know you never make a profit out of them. I’m lucky to break even. I mostly sell them to fashionphile, because it’s the easiest, butsell some cheaper/contemporary brand items through EBay. I basically sell items on EBay that I wouldn’t even mind just donating. I would never sell such expensive items like Hermès on Ebay!

I have a friend who was quite active on the tPF 7-8 years ago. She had large collections of everything and most of the OGs will definitely remember her. Anyway, she paid a huge premium to a personal shopper to get a HG croc B for her bc the item was in Japan and the reseller didn’t ship. The PS skipped off with her money. Mind you, this was a personal shopper she’s used many times and totally trusted. I was so heartbroken for her. I learned my lesson through my friend to not trust PSs. I also don’t sell on eBay at all anymore because I’ve been scammed with reverse charges on many designer items I sold on eBay. Mostly, believe it or not, to France because their package tracking system is so faulty. I don’t know how anyone can sleep defrauding other ppl out of so much money.

I totally agree. I never trust PS/resalers.
Not only because they charge a huge premium but I'm not even sure it is Authentic!
A famous PS in US used to sell many H bags to GCC clients in middle east.
Any new bag for double!
And guess what.so of the bags were even FAKE!
There was a case that one of the customers who bought from her took the bag to H boutique in Paris and they told her this bag is not orginal
She was shocked she told them that she paid alot of it! And by looking at it o way anyone can tell it is FAKE! Even she used to go to other H stores in other countries and always get SA complements " no one knew it is FAKE only H Paris when she to the bag for a repair !"

There are always going to be unsavory people selling on various sites as well as personal shoppers/resellers.
With that being said, it is important for any buyer to due their due diligence & with doing that there are times
when situations such as what you mentioned Mira will occur... That is not the norm..
There are many resellers & personal shoppers that have extraordinary reputations & earn their reputation
with referrals.
I don't think anyone that is dealing with a personal shopper or reseller expects to get a "hot" bag at a boutique price.
It has been mentioned many many times here, when buying a bag to have it authenticated by a professional.
If someone chooses not to have their bag authenticated especially with the FAKES that are in the marketplace
that buyer/seller have to assume responsibility which at times always doesn't happen.
No bank transfers is also recommended.
Here in the US many resellers will send a bag out on approval with a tag so that the bag can be returned within
a specific time frame for credit.
At the end of the day, if one can sell a bag to a friend, they have then pleasured it forward, which is a good thing
& it is a win win on both sides.
Here in the US there are several top notch resellers that I would consider when choosing to sell a bag & I would
be comfortable doing so

No, never intended to or actually sold H bags. I would have had an opportunity in the past when I got my holy grail in Paris, 4 months before my almost identical podium order arrived in another city. I could have still taken the Podium Order and try to resell it, but as I don't have any experience/track record/network selling anything I didn't want to sit on the amount for lord knows how long and risk not ever selling it for a premium. It would have been the same colour as the my HG in the avatar (blue paon), only smaller and different leather. Not exactly a classic, fast selling colour. I hope whoever got it instead of me is genuinely happy with it and not a reseller.

I would not sell my b,k,c's but told my husband to contact Christie's if something was to happen to me. I would trust Christie's (although high fees) and want my DH to get what he could. Don't see my b,k,c as an investment but rather a personal enjoyment.

I have to admit that I sold my limited edition c to a dear friend who wanted it as her marriage present that her DH said he would buy. She didn't want to go the route in building a h relationship and make other purchases although she appreciates and loves h. My c had never been used. Came home from the store and two years never went out until my friend came to pick it up. I sold the c at just what I had purchased it for. Nothing more. My friend is so appreciative and loves it and uses it! It went to a good loving home but I balled my eyes out afterwards. :crybaby:Didn't expect that.:wtf:
