Did you stop buying/using contemporary bags once you go luxury?

i loved so Much your post, for many people buyin a Coach or Michael Kors Is a luxury And it holds the same value as a Designer bag. not everyone can buy a Chanel or Gucci so getting an MK is a big deal.

i honestly don’t buy Designer bags, I think it’s spending too much on so you can get as pretty in a lower price.
yes designe bags have better quality and involve more work but sometimes you just want the style nit that exact bag.
the only bag I think I might get in the designer world is the Alma BB from Louis Vuitton because no contemporary brand has something similar.

you can get something similar to the Chanel flap in contemporary world, You can get something like the Kelly bag in the contemporary world, something like the speedy from LV or the Lulu from Saint Laurent. Or similar to the Never full.

howver no one has a made a good bag inspired in the Alma. That’s the only designer bag I’d be tempted to buy.
the Chanel it’s gorgeous but i Got my Purificación García for a fraction of the pr which gives me the me the style of the Chanel and makes me so happy.

anyway for anyone looking for a Kelly mini dupe look for your nearest Mango store they have a bag rea similar.
An Italian brand named Del Giudice makes a bag called Sofia that looks like the Alma.

DKNY and Michael Kors also have an Alma shaped bag.

I'm going back to contemporary bags. I now see luxury handbags as a treat yourself than a wardrobe staple because I don't see them as everyday bags in my life. I realized about three years ago what brings me the most joy every day. I want to spend my money first on those things. I actually miss the simplicity handbags had in my life before I got into luxury handbags.

Idk if this is the right forum to ask this but....

Which one is more worth it?

Polene Numero Un or Coach Alie Shoulder Bag (Black)?

I could only choose one for now, but they're both very beautiful and the Coach one is very expensive here (SGD 1,100 which is around USD 800).
I'm not a Coach person but that price for Coach seems very high to me. Maybe the Alie is something special. If you don't get a response here, you might try posting in the Coach subforum.

I think that in value for your money (buying new and full price) Polene is the best value purse brand there is. Such high quality leather and craftsmanship. Polene is limited in colors, so if you wanted a fun color, I'd say Coach, but since you want black, I suggest Polene.

yes and no.
i enjoy the quality of the luxury items as well as the experience of purchasing from a luxury boutique. I also fell in love with buying pre-loved luxury items as a way to save money, be more eco-conscious and get my hands on more unique pieces!

if I found a piece that I fell in love with and it was contemporary, I would definitely buy it! I just don’t start my shopping journeys with contemporary brands anymore if that makes any sense.
☺️

I currently only buy premier but I’m seriously thinking of adding a Polene huit. The design is so cute.

I think Polene will become a premier brand. It has the quality and design to do so.
I think (???) premier and contemporary are Purseforum terms. I don’t think brands are categorized this way elsewhere. I also think I read some of the origin of what was considered premier is based on what brand was originally a couture house and it expanded from there. (Someone else can confirm. I’m fuzzy on what I read.) In any case, I doubt most people would consider Polene “premier” unless they increased their prices 10 fold.

I don’t really care. I like the bag I’m eyeballing so I need to jump in now when the prices make sense and my new reasonably priced yet gorgeous bag can live happily amongst her overpriced sisters.

Good to know. Thanks for the background. I certainly wouldn't consider it premier now, but all the current premier brands at one point started as a new company, when they were first founded. For me, premier means they've been around for at least a few decades, are well respected, well known, and people are willing to pay the high prices to get the brand name.
