Did anyone go to the sample sale in NYC today?

Rose, I don't wanna hijack the thread with my little drama story! LOL It was really not that big of a deal, I was just highly upset for a bit. Totally calm now ;) Thank you for asking though! (and if the curiosity is killing you, just send me a PM)

Props to HL, Abby, and CynthiaNYC for making this such a fun sale, never went with friends before - it's nice to have people to "share with" - Thanks Ladies!!!

Def. worth going for anyone interested in China, Crystal, Scarves, and sterling silver whiskey flasks!

i stood in line for AGES to get in, but as usual i had a good time! i saw hlfinn, and i almost got to meet cynthiaNYC and some other tPF-ers, but they had alreay paid and were on their way downstairs. which actually is OK, as i was particularly unkempt and would not have impressed anyone!

i got shoes, a cashmere stole and an onde de chic mousseline losange -- the tag says 'changeant' but i don't see any color change in it.

the scarf selection was good -- lots of noel a faubourg, hola flamenca, vie de fleuve, walk in the park . . . a parures ocean i wanted so much, but it had a sale stamp that showed through to the front, quite a few fleuve sacre in teal.

hmm . . . will have to try to remember what else.

ETA, several ostrich and one croc belt, but all were 60 - 75 cms

Olive! It was so nice to meet you and HL and Cynthia!! It was definitely fun and helpful to have friends there to shop with. I'm not the best decision-maker and when I can't decide, I tend to get frustrated and leave with nothing. So thanks for enabling

i had THE BEST time with you ladies. honest to goodness, it was a blast!

dq it was so nice to see you! wish we had more time to talk ever instead of these quick hi and byes!

DQ!! I am so disappointed that I didn't get to meet you! :( I didn't think H. caught up with you, though I was with her when she glimpsed you. And I was a little preoccupied at the moment, unfortunately. Next time, though.

Rose, you're so funny--I emailed you, actually ;)

Abby & Olive, you ladies were SUCH fun!! It was great having scouts to go stand lookout for certain scarves and so on. Hehehe. We should do tag team shopping more often!

And Hlfinn, you know I  you as always. And yes, I said heart out loud that time too. Thanks for lunch, too, by the way!

Ok, before my memory is totally shot, let me do a mental run throu the room to help with the visualization...

Walk in, check your bags and socks and undies...

First on the right, cute baby accessories and clothes,
Next start the men's shoes, then the women's shoes, spotted at least 3 pairs of croc sandals,
Keeping right next comes boots and men's clothes neatly folded and next to men's clothes, a small perfume stand (Eau D'Orange and 24 F),
Then continue right and I remember dressing rooms, ok nothing for sale there..

Cross the room and you hit china, stemware, crystal, linens and paperweights (really nice paperweigths)

Right next to the home goods section, the the left about 8-10 rows of ladies RTW plus luscious shearlings, and some gloves and folded clothes

Continue to the left and you encounter the 3 remaining chiffon scarfs, trays of skinny leather bracelets, size xs belts, dog collars and leashes, and remaining wallets and small leather goods,

Next left you hit the racks of canvas garden party in off sizes bags, a few colorados', and the fun beachs bags...

Gaze into the center of the room and you'll see ties and scarves behind them set up kind of in a circle in the room

Then near the registers and check out area is a table with home decorating odds and ends, including a lovely oversized nut cracker and sterling silver whiskey flask neckaces (going fast!) but alas no knee pads.

Then you get on the snaking line to pay, and wait, and ponder your purchases, and wait, and run to grab ONE MORE THING that you can't live w/o and then you pay (STICKER SHOCK) but with 40% to 70% off, ahhhh feel better.

Forgive me if I forgot anything since I was in the midst of the "fever".

I went today and waited FOREVER to get in! I bought two scarves, one for my Mom, a pale pink with all the rivers in the world printed on it in art deco text and one for myself a beautiful beautiful stained glass looking koi (sp?) pond surrounded by oranges. (I don't know the proper names, though I'm sure they have them, I'm a Prada girl) I am seriously in love with that scarf. I was excited to get enamel bracelets, but they had none, surely snapped up by those at the private sale. I also bought a dinky little shoulder bag with this cute flared strap that I think will be perfect for market shopping in Paris! Oh, and two towels. I have always wanted an Hermes beach towel, but two bath towels will have to do for now! I'd like to thank you ladies so learned in the H way, I just joined this forum and I wouldn't have known about this sale without you!

yay karin! so glad you got things you loved.

i was at the beginning sale and i didn't see any enamel bracelets. i really don't think they had any. granted i got there about an hour after they opened but i didn't see anyone with any either. i didn't see any at the last sale either. the only bracelets i've seen there are the thin leather ones.

Olive, that was a perfect rundown of the layout of the sale!! LOL about the whiskey flasks, you know they didn't have them today?? Darn, and I was actually thinking of getting one for DH for our hikes.

Yes, I did go again today! What can I say, I'm kind of addicted. I ran into Abby, along with Rose and Tods, and we had such fun. I like meeting you ladies! I got a small passel of scarves, several of which I am not entirely sure I can wear, as they may be far too elegant for the likes of me, LOL! There were a lot more mousselines available today, for some reason, and a decent number of cashmere as well. I checked out the ties, but for the most part all that they had were pastels, and Mr. Cynthia doesn't do pastel. (Sad because he would look amazing in pink)

I found that the majority of shoes were in small sizes, generally 36-38, with only a precious few pair in my giant size 40. Oh well, it kept me out of trouble, I guess!

The china section was largely depleted by the time I got back there around 1:30. They still had some things, but very few cup & saucer sets, which was what I was thinking of getting.

Did anyone hit the Jimmy Choo sale today at all? I guess I should ask that in the JC thread.

It might have been only today? I don't remember if it's more than one day...but it's on 54th somewhere...hang on.
