Oh, you are just so nice! If I did work at Tiffany I would do my best to make sure people got the royal treatment. But at the same time, I would probably be broke working there. Too much temptation not enough money.

That is a bit strange about the "lead jeweler" bit.

I have had two alterations done at Tiffany in the past - an engagement ring resizing and a necklace lengthening with a jump ring. Both alterations were flawless, and it did only take 1-2 weeks. I just feel so bad for you with this experience, but I am so happy that you didn't give up and that you got what you wanted in the end. :yahoo:

Please share a pic of the new necklace if you are so inclined. :girlsigh:
I’m sure you would be the most understanding SA or repair center advisor:hugs:Hehe the employee discount might help with those temptations!

I wish they would just send pictures…during the whole process it was over phone (even though I had sent emails with photo references). Lead jeweler or not, I have my doubts.

Omg were those alterations sent to NY as well? I’m so happy it worked out for you!! My mom tried the necklace on, and wants it extended to 18 inches. I’m kinda traumatized with my past experiences so I’m not sure if I should do it:facepalm: I had the chain extended to 17 inches before but I wasn’t sure if they did the correct length (since I compared it to my Costco necklace that had the 17 inch jump ring setting, and the Tiffany seemed shorter).

Yes I’ll share more photos when my mom wears it!! But for now, here are photos of it just chilling :) Being the person I am, I noticed the right jump ring looks funky. But I’m too scared to revise anything LOL

Thank you for your kind words. She is over the moon with her choice. She chose the C de Cartier (?). She passed on the Amour, she wanted a solitaire not in a bezel.

The SA I used to use retired after 25 years. She was a pro! She knew her stuff! If she was still there, I definitely would have done the modification because I know she would communicate it clearly. The SA did tell me that they would have to send it to NY. That made me side eye the 1 week turn around.
Ohhhh that’s such a pretty line!! I was debating between C de Cartier or the d’Amour line if I went for the Cartier route. If you don’t mind me asking, was it significantly more expensive than Tiffany’s (with the similar carat weight)?

Oh wow!! That’s amazing- having a connection with a wonderful SA for so long! Wish she was still there LOL (then maybe I could ask for help too). I think the faster of a turnaround time they promise, the more suspicious. I don’t mind if they take longer than one week, as long as they do it right!!

It looks great! Don't worry about the solder at the jump ring. That's typical. I have seen the soldering be better, but I wouldn't change that. The important thing is that the jump ring is closed and it's not super sloppy. I'm sure you won't notice it at a regular distance.

Sending pictures of the process would be great, but I don't think they would do that unless it's a custom piece? I know some other jewelry vender do that, but I don't think Tiffany does.

My alterations were done in NY. I had the store handle all the transactions. I used to have an awesome SA, but he left. I miss him so much. :crybaby:

I think you need to take a long break from alterations. You have been traumatized! Is the necklace 16 or 17 inches? Unless it is very tight on her neck, I wouldn't make the necklace too long. The solitaire is a dainty piece and looks nice higher on the neck. If it doesn't flip, it's definitely not too tight.

Enjoy your well deserved rest from this journey! :flowers::hugs:

Thank you for the reassurance again!!:blush: I’m so happy it looks right, and yes as long as the jump ring is closed it’s fine!

That’s true, they probably only do that for actual customized pieces. I just wish they’ll improve the repair process towards alterations on a brand new item. Something that’s a bit more personal. I worked with James Allen/Adiamor/Brilliance, and they give nice photos.

Nooo T___T it’s always the nice ones! My SA said chain lengthening shouldn’t be “too hard of a job”, that usually it’s done fine. I’m thinking about adding an extension with jump rings so my mom can change lengths anytime.

The 0.63 (current one) is at 16 inches! When the 0.56 was altered to 17 inches it was already tight on my mom (like around the base of the neck). She didn’t like that. Good point about the solitaire being dainty & looking better at a higher position! I’ll ask her again, but I think she’s set on having 18 inches.

Kinda want a break LOL. Maybe I’ll get that lengthening done like next month! Thank you again for your support & advice :hbeat:
