That’s way too longI think it went back and forth for about 4 months. I hope they do right by you.
So I did the same mistake three times. I thought it would be third time’s the charm, but definitely not with the infamous repair center. This time, I went in store to explain, a kind gentleman that works on their operations team submitted it for the THIRD repair. I was promised this would hit the “Tiffany Standard”, that management would ensure it be done perfectly this time.
Welp. I went in store all giddy to pick it up. It looks similar. Until I took a close look and compared it to the Tiffany Standard fixed settings. I compared my altered 0.56 carat to a 0.72 carat one. The bails are all towards the bottom of the basket. This way with gravity, it doesn’t tilt much. It’s like this for all fixed diamond settings. But mysteriously for my 0.56 carat, the bails were soldered on near the prong tips. Won’t that impact the integrity of prongs over time? If the bails are supported on near the prong tips...I included a photo of what I mean.
I had my mom try it on, and well surprise, it tilts upwards on her neck. It only flattens if we tug on the chain to lengthen/straighten it. I had the chain extended to 17 inches. Still doesn’t help. This was supposed to be her first Tiffany piece. Not sure how I feel towards this experience. It’s been 2 months sigh.
Do I send it in the 4th time?View attachment 5779287View attachment 5779286
Thank you for your support & advice! I’m still wondering if I should attempt a 4th try at the repair center. Perhaps I’m being too picky? My mom loves the stone. She’s turning 60, and she only turns 60 once so I wanted this to be a “normal” fixed setting necklace surprise.Yes, send it back! Don't settle for their mistake! You will never wear it, and it will be a waste of money. Tiffany usually has beautiful impeccable settings. I can't believe they can't get this right. I have several Tiffany pieces, and I think they have great craftsmanship. I can't believe the bad luck you are having. Can you return it and find a diamond necklace with the setting you like already made?

She works in healthcare and the sliding pendant stuff doesn’t work quite well. So it’s finally fixed...but it looks different from the Tiffany standard. Idk what to do...I contacted my original sales associate about this. I’m waiting to hear back if I can return it or not. I’m considering between a 4th repair attempt, or an one-time exception return for a diamond that’s in the existing fixed setting.
Your email is very clear.I wrote this email explaining the situation to them as well, and I’m waiting to hear backI feel so bad...Idk how else to explain the situation to them. Another sales was there when I picked it up at the store, and she said she could notice the difference between my fixed setting and the typical ones. She suggested I contact the repair center again.View attachment 5779820
Thank you again for your reassurance, I was losing my mind for these past months. You read my mind!! I also just emailed the repair center asking if they could just re-mount it completely instead of modifying. I think in the early days I did request that right after purchasing, and they said they would know what to do. But they’ve altered the actual setting so many times nowYou are definitely not being too picky! They just need to make the setting look like the ones they already produce.
I'm wondering if they could just reset your diamond into an already made fixed setting instead of modifying the original setting. Honestly, they owe you an apology for making you go through all this. What you are asking for is very simple. Don't feel guilty for holding them to their promise to you. You didn't do anything wrong. Good luck and I really hope they can fix it satisfactorily for you. If not, I would definitely escalate it to management.
Yay!! I’m glad it’s clearYour email is very clear.I'm surprised the SA asked you to contact the repair center. I would think she should be contacting them on the phone with you there present.

Hehe thanks again for being so thoughtfulYou're welcome! Glad I could help.I can only imagine how crazy this whole experience is making you feel. Buying jewelry should be fun, not a hassle. I really like your last email. It's perfect with the wording and the attached pictures. I agree that a new setting would be ideal.
Definitely follow up your email with a call. Don't be afraid. You got this!![]()
