It looks so pretty and I LOVE blue!

Funny enough, I typically don't like glitters since I have a hard time getting them off but I love the look so I'll deal. Argh, Pinkpuff09, you aren't supposed to be enabling me, I basically want all of the ones you just mentioned ;)

I'm not trying to enable you!:angel:
Have you heard of the foil method to remove glitter nail polish?

I snagged a DL polish from the Beauty Swap Box and I FINALLY used it last night on my ring finger. It is Superstar and I didn't know what to expect and honestly thought it was going to be a chunky bronze glitter over the color I was wearing and was shocked it was an opaque color AND glitter. So far I REALLY like this polish and I want MORE! I want Across the Universe next, I think.

I love Superstar! It's interesting in the bottle (black base w/bronze square glitter), but it's even more amazing layered because the base is sheer, so it darkens the color underneath just a tad while adding lots of bling!

...and no enabling from me, but for future reference, ATU is amazing, as is LSTB if you like blues ;)

He-he. It's because of the enablers in this thread that I now own both. :p

Plastering it on thickly might actually be what's causing your problems. After a bit of experimenting, I noticed that if there's a lot of polish on the brush, most of what gets left behind on the nail is the base, whereas if you wipe off the excess liquid on the the neck of the bottle, then each application seems to lay down more glitter particles (^(oo)^)v
It did look very inelegant and wouldn't work for manis as it would take forever to dry :p. I made a better job, using thinner coats when I swatched it on my nail wheel (am I alone in putting black-based glitters like this on the Red (or whatever colour glitter there is) rather than Black/Grey nail wheel?). I'll bear in mind what you say, it makes sense.

It still looks stunning and if I hadn't been spoiled by the amount of hex I was getting in ATU and LSTB I'd be completely happy. As it is, taking into account what novella and thithi say, it does sound suspiciously as if they've tinkered with the formula :rtr:

That's interesting - I'm very surprised that you're happy with the hex in LSTB and dissatisfied with RRS, as I had the opposite experience - LSTB was a total disappointment for me, I was hoping for a blue version of RRS and it clearly is not! (>(oo)<)`

PS - I too put RRS on my "red" wheel (^(oo)^)v

I got LSTB before RRS but also I was expecting LSTB to be less vibrant than ATU, actually liked that more muted, less contrasty quality and the fact that the base colour was more opaque. Whereas I'd seen swatches of RRS that were just exploding with the big hex glitter jumping out of the black jelly, and it was specifically that big hex effect I was looking for over and above the smaller glitter.

As for colour on wheels, I think I put together wheels with outfits in mind - I don't mean I match outfits to nails, but I'd want to avoid clashing tones. Although knowing my colour family and trying to make sure new purchases are all within a certain tonal range should mean that I have fewer opportunities to clash. I only have one wheel that refers to finish rather than colour and that's the one for flakies and transparent glitters, to be superimposed on other colours mainly.

Here are pics - my nail wheel swatches aren't too bad, this was I think 3 thinly applied coats, a great improvement on my "slap it on to get more hex" attempt, anyway. The last wheel pic, with flash, I've not embedded just attached as it's HUGE: click then click again for full size.
