We the people are disgusted at the practice of David Yurman and Neiman Marcus.there practice of taking advantage of unawares people when it comes to his jewelry, (ie) Bonded 18k gold, He is stealing from you and me, If the practice was to sell as vermil gold then he would be poor,
18k bonded is a trade word that means plate. people do not know this, until resale.
we must file a class action law suit to stop him and Neiman Marcus from this practice, Who is with me???:graucho:

You must be joking...

Well, in my opinion, if somebody goes to estate jeweler to ask question about lines they are not producing themselves, they will get all kinds of desirable answers. :graucho:

I really like DY's designs I have to admit, but I also like some pieces by Cartier and Tiffany's.
I don't understand all this comparison of DY to other brands. You buy LUXURY items because you LOVE the item for whatever reason. If we were to always compare quality and every detail, then you are not buying for the love of a product, but rather being a typical shopper and rarely can any of us afford to buy absolutely the best piece of jewelry on the market. Or at least for me, I think it's important to follow my heart for what STYLE suits me best, and stop worrying about every detail, otherwise one would never be satisfied. And this principle guides me for everything, whether it's bags, shoes, clothing...etc. Other people will always say their negatives or compare with other things that may be "better" in their opinion, I say judge for yourself first and foremost, then listen to others' opinions.

It is true.
I have the same bracelet people are arguing here about. I bought it and it was solid gold links. Two years later NM website had this bracelet named as gold plated, in the gold part of the links.
David Yurman jewelry looks different from all his copies.
There is definitely a big difference in quality and look. There is really no comparison. It would be hard to pass any of non-Yurman pieces for Yurman pieces. When for example with lovely Tiffany I think sometimes it is very hard to tell, the same as LV, although I am talking about bags now.

I agree.

I am looking at several of DY pieces myself and I understand the bias toward DY the entire time. Others' opinion will not deter me from buying what *I* love. We all have different styles and DY absolutely speaks to me more so than Tiffany's in general. So I'd rather spend my money on DY rather than Tiffany.

And speaking of bags, it's like people will always praise Hermes' Birkin as the king/queen of all bags. Of all the people who purchase it, I doubt every single one of them love the bag for its design... or at least I know people in my family who buy it for an exchange of status because OTHERS like the bag. I think this is wrong. Again, I'd much rather buy a beautiful bag that suits *me* and my style, which may be LV, Prada, Balenciaga, Bottega, or Chanel and no one can say that these bags are of poor quality. Anyhow, again my point is I'd rather buy what I LOVE rather than for the chase of a status, which comes from one's own demeanor and NOT what you carry physically.

I'd never heard of DY being vermeil or 'gold bonded' (what?) before, but I'm pretty sure it's illegal to stamp an item of jewelry with '750' or '585' unless the portion of the item that's gold isn't simply plating. So just check for those when buying and you'll be fine.

Well...8 years later I’m probably talking to myself here but I have info direct from the top people at David Yurman corporate. The extra large oval link necklace in 2 tone was made for about a year and a half ONLY in solid gold links. These came with GOLD dog tags. I lucked out on eBay about 4 years ago and picked up a necklace and bracelet from 2 different sellers who didn’t know what they had. I had the pieces confirmed by my jeweler. It has to do with the weight. Since about 15 years ago they are ALL made with bonded gold. This applies to the extra large oval link only in two tone. At the time of my inquiry the medium and small were not bonded. It may have changed. You don’t even need to go to a jeweler or look at the ad because all bonded two tone Jewelry will have a silver dog tag instead of a gold.I was assured the all gold version which you can imagine this many years later the cost....is NOT bonded .
