Wow. I really feel for his wife. I don't think...actually I know...I could not put up with this. The first time my husband cheated for his "sex addiction" he'd be gone.

First of all I feel bad for him and his wife because it's been made public and I can only imagine how humiliated they both feel.

Secondly, this is a true addiction...just as alcoholism and other addictions are. I watched a serious show on this addiction about a year ago and it's not just about a guy wanting to have sex. It's a true and scary addiction that can ruin one's life.

I feel sorry for him, as well as his family. I hope his wife stands by him because if he gets the help he needs he can recover. It isn't always about cheating either. It can be in the form of porn and others outlets too.

And why did he have to tell this to us all? Nobody's pretty much interested in his life, so it's like he's trying to get some attention.

I think there is more to this situation. There must be a 'story' that the tabs are about to expose on him... I feel sorry for his wife.

When he was on Sex and the City, he had some addictive personality.. was it the same as his real life one? Remember he was in a facitlity and Carrie went to visit him?

I understand that. That's still one addiction I couldn't stand though. Especially if his wife hadn't known and he may have exposed her to all kinds of diseases.

I read that in the Washington Post today. I don't really know what a "sex adddiction" is. That probably sounds crazy, but honestly, what does it mean?

according to http://www.sexaa.org/addict.htm
here is the defintion of a sex addict:
Sex Addiction can involve a wide variety of practices. Sometimes an addict has trouble with just one unwanted behavior, sometimes with many. A large number of sex addicts say their unhealthy use of sex has been a progressive process. It may have started with an addiction to masturbation, pornography (either printed or electronic), or a relationship, but over the years progressed to increasingly dangerous behaviors.
The essence of all addiction is the addicts' experience of powerlessness over a compulsive behavior, resulting in their lives becoming unmanageable. The addict is out of control and experiences tremendous shame, pain and self-loathing. The addict may wish to stop --- yet repeatedly fails to do so. The unmanageability of addicts' lives can be seen in the consequences they suffer: losing relationships, difficulties with work, arrests, financial troubles, a loss of interest in things not sexual, low self-esteem and despair.
Sexual preoccupation takes up tremendous amounts of energy. As this increases for the sex addict, a pattern of behavior (or rituals) follows, which usually leads to acting out (for some it is flirting, searching the net for pornography, or driving to the park.) When the acting out happens, there is a denial of feelings usually followed by despair and shame or a feeling of hopelessness and confusion.
