OAKLAND (AP) -- Customs inspectors have intercepted $22 million in counterfeit "designer" goods in a shipping container from China.
An X-ray at the Port of Oakland used to detect radioactive material from terrorists discovered the large haul of counterfeit items earlier this month.
The container included counterfeit Rolex, Gucci, Prada, Jimmy Choo, Bulgari, Cartier, Chanel, Versace, Juicy Couture and other fraudulent brand name merchandise.
The government is assessing civil penalties against those involved. The importer, whom customs officials would not name, has a bond, which will be taken.
