I agree with you, KZ. I clump most of the QC problems I'm experiencing into the category of "growing pains" and mostly don't get too aggravated. I think that me getting quite this irritated over it is an anomaly. It won't stop me from buying BEC bags, but I agree: Price point is a bit high for me to feel perfectly cheerful about modifying the bags after paying for them/receiving them. I hate that I'm going to have to have the mismatched gold rings cut off my bag.

This too shall pass...I am still a BE customer and don't anticipate this aggravation changing that.

I also don't think I'd recommend anyone selecting gold or brass HW though.

Okay, my QC story...I'd appreciate some suggestions on how to do this at home, or whether it's possible for a leather repair place to do something.

I bought a BE in the secondhand market. I use several BEs, and like the fact that I can put the same stuff in the same pockets of all the BEs because the inside structure is identical. Anyway, I tried to put my checkbook in the inside zip pocket, and it wouldn't fit - it fit quite nicely in my other bags. I pushed it in with a bit more effort and the cover tore. So I checked the pocket itself and discovered that a big chunk of fabric is caught up in the stitching on one side; the inside zip pocket is 5 inches deep on one side, and 2 inches deep on the other.

I contacted the person who sold it to me, and she didn't know. She described every other minuscule ding on the bag in great detail, so she wasn't trying to pass off a defect on me; you really can't tell there is anything wrong unless you try to use that pocket.

Is it possible to unpick the seam and re-sew it after reshaping the pocket and pushing the caught-up fabric into the proper shape? Any ideas??

Thanks!!

Luckily, I'm fanatical about silver HW, so it looks like I won't be having this problem. I still feel bad for those who do, though, and I hope that it is corrected soon.

Merika, can you pull the pocket out so you can easily undo the seam and resew it? Otherwise you may want to take it to a seamstress or shoe repair place and have them take a look. It'd be worth it if you use those pockets often.

I'll try to pull it out. I do use the pocket frequently, and I'm bothered a little that I can't put all the stuff I'm used to in it. I wonder if it has to be machine stitched...do you think it will fray unless resewn properly?

^^ Not sure, Merika, if it would fray or not. If you can pull it out and undo the seam you may be able to tell. Sorry I'm not of great assistance! I do hope you can get it fixed though! I use my pockets all the time so would feel the same way!

I would be bothered too kuz I use the pockets. I'm surprised the seller never noticed that kind of defect in a bag. Anyway...I'm no expert, but I would think that you can unstitch and restitch it.

My SMM has silver hardware that has tarnished as well. It has been a while since I wore the bag and just the other day I pulled her out and smiled at the glossy purple (still THE best PURPLE IMO). The silver hardware has tarnished but I used a cloth to polish it and it looks ok now. The cloth removed some brassy residie, so ot sure if it was maybe moisture that caused the tarnish or what but lucily it is gone now, but I will keep an eye on it.

Kings my pewter LM and glossy purple LMM experienced the same tarnishing of the silver hardware. I was surprised, as I only noticed it after I pulled my sparingly used pewter LM out of it's bag.

I checked the others too. I emailed Jackie and she sent me some metal polish for the hardware. She stressed not to use just anything, though to avoid damaging the metal.

This has been on my mind for awhile - I have been unhappy with the ostrich leather. The actual quills are poking through the quill bumps (the leather that covers the quill) in a few spots and I am afraid that the bumps will fall off and the the quills will be exposed. I have been upset because I was told that this was very high quality ostrich, but it doesn't seem as nice as what I have seen in stores considering that the price was comparable to other emerging luxury brands.

I also don't think the ostrich is suited for the style I chose and wish there had been some guidance in that regard, but that is my fault. It makes me a bit sick to think how much I paid and that the leather was not perfect. By that price point, I would rather may more for a perfect skin.

Lilac, did you ever do a reveal for us? I remember seeing Lionlaw's Hold Me but don't remember seeing your ostrich bag. What did you get? Can you post pics for us? Have you spoken with Jackie at all concerning your issues?

I know nothing about ostrich so can't be of any help. I would bet that Lionlaw will have some good advice for you or someone else that is more knowledgeable than I am regarding this type of skin. I'm so sorry you're upset by it though.

No I didn't ever get around to a reveal of my Clutch Me. I haven't spoken to Jackie and do not plan too. I'm not looking for an exchange or refund, I only wanted to vent. It is only in a few places where the quill bumps aren't perfect. It is just - I wish it was perfect and I spent more money or I had just gotten a regular leather Clutch.

The other part of my discontent is that I think that the ostrich leather looks much better on the slouchy Hold Me that Lionlaw got versus a structured style like the Clutch Me. But I chose the style and that is entirely my fault, but I wish there had been some guidance from Jackie.

lilac,I guess you are right that the skin is stretched so much in a Clutch me, that it sort of exposes the "bumps" a bit more. It's sad , that you don't like it as much as you feel you want to.

I just heard back from Jackie and she agrees that the hardware (excepting zippers) should match. "Yay" for that. Let's see what happens.

Jenny, do you have a pic of the different HW ? Thanks

I hope your problem can be solved soon

For the US Customers returns and exchanges are really a PITN, shipment, and all the customs hassle........

Yes, maybe that is it. The leather could have been stretched too much and the quill was exposed. I was just very surprised because I didn't think the quills should pop through the leather.

I'll try to post pics tomorrow.
