I find MT to be hit or miss. I have lost hoops, but I haven't had issues with the studs. I did start purchasing them precovid when you could custom backs, so all of my piercing backs are 12g in 6mm (I ordered an excess of posts just incase). The dangling lightning bolt is new! I love being able to just change the fronts out easily.

Augh, I’ve lost a flower stud which I thought was super secure. :( With my last visit, I had them really tighten them all. Problem now is I have to go back to change them around as there is no way (even with plastic gloves) that I can take them off! lol!

My everyday set: I’ve had the upper piercings with 3.5mm invisible diamond studs since 2024—threaded style, and I never take them off. The lower studs are 4.7mm with regular pushbacks, added in February this year.

I was in the NYC store recently looking at these. I like the invisible setting, but she said they do sit off the ear, if that makes sense. She said my martini setting ones likely sit lower. Is that right?

I don't think that the sit overly high on the earlobe, the setting of the 4.7mm is only 2mm high, see photo. The seeing on smaller ones is smaller too. It's annoying that they don't let you try on the earrings in the store. This method with holding a plastic stick with an earring next to your ear doesn't work for me lol

I totally agree! How hard would it be to clean them after?
It's funny, I ordered some on line and returned them (because the post was too short)... but I tried those on.

Oh, and thanks for the photo.

I’ve been wearing Maria Tash 3.5 mm studs in my second and third piercings for a while. Recently, I finally caved and got the 4.7 mm for my first piercings. The price is obviously steep compared to buying loose stones, but after years of considering other options, I decided to take the hit and get what I truly liked. No other setting looks quite like Maria Tash’s invisible diamond. In fact, because there are no prongs, the stones actually seem larger. I initially considered the 5 mm, but the height difference from 4.7 mm to 5 mm was surprisingly significant. I didn’t love how the earrings stuck out due to that, so I went with the 4.7 mm instead.
Do you have a photo of the 4.7mm in your ear? I am trying to decide between the 4.7mm and 5mm …the price difference is huge compared to the two.

In the photo I posted above, I’m wearing a 4.7mm in my lower piercing. I saw both the 4.7mm and 5mm in the boutique, and the size difference didn’t feel significant enough to justify the price jump. I also wasn’t a fan of how much higher the 5mm sat compared to my 3.5mm studs in the upper piercings. Overall, I felt that pairing two 3.5mm with the 4.7mm created a more balanced, cohesive look. If you don’t have any upper piercings, the 5mm could still be worth considering.

I had a 18 Gauge, 8mm gold hoop arrive with basically no friction to hold it shut. They did replace it though. Eventually that closing friction went away (even though I don't even change it out very often), and it opened while I wearing it, losing a charm that way. I still have it, but basically consider it broken at this point.

My slightly thicker hoops seem fine at the moment, but only time will tell.

I've now had 2 out of 4 seamless hoops permanently fail on me just within a couple years. I do not recommend them to anyone! They look good, but do not last.
