Cupid vs. Mini MAB

I agree Cupid is more casual and very functional. Also more comfortable to carry. I have an older model Cupid with the outside zipper on the back side as well as the front. I want another one but they're hard to find. I also like my bags soft and slouchy. I bought a Cupid in Wine color but it was too structured so I returned it.

I've had a few MAMs. Currently I have a BBW one and a black studded one. I like black best for the MA bags.

I saw one with the zipper on the back in a Product Video! Maybe that store carries them still?
What makes the cupid more comfortable to carry?

i really don't like to add extra rings to hook the strap to the D-rings in the front and at the back
they should bring back the old straps with the lobster clasps!

They should, I just noticed that navy bag I posted still has the lobster clasps and they look beautiful :shucks:

I like to carry my bags using the double handles - either on my arm or shoulder and only use the long straps occasionally when I'm carrying other stuff.
For me the double handles on the Cupid seem to fit on my shoulder more comfortably than the MAM double handles.
However, again, mine is an older Cupid from a couple of years ago. I'm not absolutely certain the newer Cupids handles are the same length.
If you can find one with the outside zip on the back, it comes in handy. The zip compartments on the sides are useless to me.

Oh I see! I am more of a crossbody bag wearer. Shoulder bags constantly slide off for me with double straps.
It does seem like the little side zip pockets are useless. I see them as decorative accent. ;)

The Cupid is perfect for crossbody. The long strap is adjustable enough for any body type and the shape of the bag lets it kind of mold to your body so it's super comfortable.

So RM doesn't provide any additional rings? That is a bummer :(. Why would she have rings on the bag if you can't clip the strap onto them?

If I buy rings at the hardware store, the color may not match.

Maybe my best option really would be Ebay, since I can see the bag I will be getting in the pictures and get a better idea of the leather. I think buying a NWT bag on ebay is fairly safe from a reputable seller?

There is also a good selection of colors for the MAM and cupid.

I've bought three NWT bags from eBay (including the MAM) and have had a great experience and got a good deal each time.

Yes, the deals are very good! New MAMs start at 179 and cupids at 279. That leaves room for more bags sooner ;)

That sounds good! :)

Hi Manelieht! I was considering the same for a while and ended up getting a Cupid and am VERY happy. I know the MAB is considered more of an RM classic and I guess is more similar in shape to the classic bowling style duffle (like an LV speedy), but for me, the square shape just didn't seem to hang right. Like you've said, the top part of the box tends to sag and cause dents in the leather when carried (unless you have it absolutely stuffed). Granted, I have never used a MAB - I'm just going off what I saw in the store and my experiences with the Cupid.

The Cupid is uber-practical while still having some fun details and sass. I like how the double-handle straps are closer to the sides of the bag so they're out of the way when you're reaching in and out and don't let the sides sag when carried. Likewise, when using the longer crossbody strap, the sides of the bag are held up so it retains its shape. And with the side panels of the bag being more triangular rather than square (as in my second picture, it hugs nicely against your hip while carrying crossbody rather than sticking out like a box.

As for leather, as others says I guess it just depends on the year and color. I got my elephant Cupid from last year's collection at a 50% discount on a Canadian e-retailing site so it was a great deal! The leather is thick and soft without being shiny. The bag is getting softer with use, but I use a Chameleon padded bag insert inside so the Cupid keeps it shape when not carried. There are so many pockets and compartments I don't really need a purse organizer, but I just prefer it this way.

The regular Cupid is very roomy and probably even slightly bigger than what I prefer, but it's not overwhelmingly big (I'm 5'6"). And the extra space allows me to fit in my iPad, books or water bottle for travel.

Hope that helps! Good luck on your search!

Thank you for your opinion on the cupid! :smile1:
Sounds like it is the perfect bag! Yours looks beautiful in the picture. Perfect leather texture!

I noticed the cupid is much more pricey on ebay also. I think when the time comes I will also have to see what deals I can get for each bag and what colors and hardware I prefer. For a lot of bags I like golden or brass hardware.

I think I really might want both bags eventually. I think maybe getting the other bag later this year (birthday or christmas) is an option ;).

I thought about colors I like and made a collage with some pictures from sites like Zappos. I could not find any purple shades but for each bag I chose some colors I like. Oddly I would like the MAM in red and navy but the Cupid I really like in light colors. I think when the time comes it will be very hard deciding. I am always so indecisive.
