I'm not an expert at all, I'm just starting to dip my toe in like you, but if you like vernis, have you considered the Tote Miroir? With the canvas handles and the full vernis body, I thought it was a very interesting bag ... it's at a good price point too

Personally I'm not looking at resale value as I intend to keep my bags, so my opinion may differ from others. If you intend to resell at any point, then something more classic/recognized may make more sense.

I have a handful of Speedies and I did have an Alma. I wound up not keeping it because I am short and since the bag is structured, it kept hitting the side of my leg when I carried it, which I found annoying. I don't have that issue with the Speedy because it is not a structured bag.

If you're needing a tote, you also might want to check into the Neverfull.

Are you looking for a handheld or crossbody? Both Speedy and Alma have an option for that, i.e. Speedy B or Alma BB.

I looked at Alma BB and it was just too small for me. I really liked the size of the Speedy B 25. I think if I ever do purchase one, it will be Speedy B 25 in Empreinte leather.

I've recently fallen in love with the Taupe Glace color, although it's a little out of my price range right now. If it's not for you, I would recommend checking out the bag in-store because it is super beautiful in person!!

I stopped by store...only one in my state. They only had 1 Alma PM and it was in the Vernis in Armarante. Very very pretty but not the color for me. I saw wallets in Dune both in Vernis and Epi. Looks like Dune in Vernis is a call for availability thing.

I think I do prefer more structured style of Alma. I could get by without a strap for now or maybe forever.

Thoughts on these two options / leather and a classic color. Will Dune be ok... or will there be to much worry about transfer? Same true with lighter pink? What about indigo. Anyone have it?

I can see you carrying both. Based on what I know about you, I think a Speedy will suit your relaxed style but at the same time, you might prefer a slightly more structured bag like Alma. (Although I supposed you can use a purse organizer inside the Speedy for a more structured look). In either case, I think you might want an optional strap. The only way to know which is best is to try them both on, take some pictures at the store and possibly put your things inside (provided they allow you) to get a good feel of how the bag looks full. You can't go wrong with either style. Have fun shopping -- your first LV is so exciting. Good luck deciding and let us know.

Sorry I don't know enough about light color epi. I have a vintage epi in blue (so a safe color). I think indigo epi is very pretty as well as DE (my favorite canvas print plus the most carefree canvas imo). I think DE matches most outfits and indigo is dark enough to almost pass as a neutral. You can't go wrong with either.

Thanks for your insightful comments! I do like the casual style of speed but the fact you can fold it flat - I think I would rather have more structure! And the 30 was more room than I would need. I didn't take pictures, they just had the one Vernis Alma so not what I would want anyway. Leaning towards Alma in Damier Ebene or Signature. But is Signature too much? Just like Coach signature?

Honestly, that is a decision of personal preferencec. Do you feel it is too much for you? Many here would only buy monogram while others shy away from the monogram print. It has also been discussed on this forum that the DE print is just as saturated and common as the monogram print in some places. As you know, the monogram print is iconic LV -- it's more than just the interlocking logo -- there is a pretty floral pattern as well :). A factor to consider is the vachetta leather on the monogram bag -- do you like the fact that it will patina/darken over time? I don't know if I am missing anything else to consider -- hope you will get more input. Please take your time to consider :). Have fun.

If you have your heart set on the Alma PM I strongly suggest the DE !! I have one and adore this bag !! I carry my DE Alma with everything . From jeans , to yoga pants , to my kids school functions , grocery store , plays , nice dinners . You name it ! I also got my key bell hot stamped to add a personal touch . My Alma gets many compliments through out the years I had her . I also feel it is a very nice size . The Epi is nice to . As I have one in the bb size . But I do love my DE for everyday use . I feel the Epi Alma in the PM is more of a work bag . A little more formal looking . Where as DE is a little more care free and casual . I did considered the Epi in the PM size once . But went with the DE and never looked back . Good luck . Your first Louis Vuitton bag will be so exciting !
