I think its tacky and intrusive to ask anyone if any part of them or anything on them is real or not. JMO. From hair on down.. just acknowledge u like it and move on.
If someone asks me..depending on if i am on my monthly or not:p I might challenge them asking them why they feel the need to ask me such a question. Usually i ask.."what do u think? does it really matter?"

I have a CZ tennis bracelet. I bought it before my son was born, and gave it to DH to give to ME in the hospital. I like the fact that it's CZ, b/c I would be so scared to wear it if it were real - I am not good with bracelets. Only my DH's tactless aunt ever asked if it was real, and I didn't answer - I just told her that he gave it to me in the hospital after our son was born! I guess she isn't tactless enough to have asked again.

Other than that, everything is real. I never ask anyone if their diamonds are real - just like handbags - if it is fake, that is their business not mine!!

I'm obsessed with jewelry and have both CZs, Moissanite and the real thing. I always tell the truth. I love my moissanite studs and tell everyone who asks exactly what they are. I would be so embarrassed if someone figured out that I lied about my jewelry. I wear white gold mostly but have some great silver designer pieces. Bloomies, Saks and Neiman Marcus all carry silver, not to mention T & Co. I say wear what you love and feel good that it is a reflection of your individual taste and it makes you happy. Honestly, people don't think about us as much as we think they do. That's something I always try to remind myself.

I have a pair of CZ earring that I wear when I work out or swim.

I never lie because like Suzi said, I would be embarrassed is someone knew I was lying. Honestly, there are people that are really good with diamonds and can pick up on the fakes even at a slight distance. So I never lie.
However if someone compliments them, I do just take the compliment and keep my mouth shut :graucho:

There is this girl that in my ochem lab that has a fake LV and swears up and down it is real. No one says anything to her, but i think most people know it is a fake. If she knew that we all knew, she would be embarrassed.

Good thread! Sometimes though, depending on the situation and who it is etc, does anyone find it annoying when some random stranger ask's you "is that real"? about a certain piece you are wearing? I don't know, maybe its just me haha!:p :p

I find it extremely annoying actually! I do wear cz and the real deal. It actually irks me more when they ask if my nails are mine and my hair color is "real".

I have never had anyone ask me if my bag was real but I only have coach so I guess that's no biggie. I did however have someone ask me if my engagement ring was real once. I was a bit stunned since it was someone I hardly knew.

I don't like wearing stud earrings very much, and change my earrings daily. If someone asks me, I just tell the truth. I've only had close friends that have asked me though. I would feel weird if a stranger walked up to me to ask about my jewelry.

I  my blingy jewelry, so I have tons of CZ/rhinestone/crystal stuff that I wear on a regular basis. Most of the time, people don't ask me about its authenticity. If I get a compliment on it, I'll usually just say thank-you without going into too much detail.

However, I get a ton of compliments on all my great-grandma's estate jewelry that I like to wear, much of which are real stones. In that case, I always brag a little, like "Thanks! It's my great-grandmother's aquamarine from 1922!" :p

I've done the reverse. I've told some people (those who I'm not that close with) that my genuine diamonds are CZs, because if they knew they were real, they'd get all judgmental/gossipy on me and I just didn't want to deal with that.

But, I'm over that now and no longer do that. If people want to judge me, then they should go right ahead. THey're not my true friends anyway.

I don't wear cz, but I'm not judgemental about it. In fact, I've heard that its way better to wear cz when traveling--that you are to never take good jewelry abroad or anything you like for that matter, because its safer.

The only cz I own are vintage or antique pieces...I love older costume jewelry because they are so well made. Usually people comment on the peices themselves, not the stones...and I am always honest about whether they are real or not.

Frankly, I find "are those real" type of questions to be tacky and common...if someone is brazen enough to ask, they deserve whatever response they get. :push:
