This was the feedback from MK that I had on colour transfer...
"If a denim item has transferred its colour to the bag, I would suggest you contact the retailer of the clothing item, as it is the one losing colour.

Regarding the bag I will advise to take it to a leather specialist and check with them if there is something that can be done.

Kindly note denim clothing is likely to transfer, which will be more noticeable in a light colour such as pale pink than a dark colour one.

It has nothing to do with the leather being treated or not"

Yes, that's the definition of color transfer.

Its a problem for me chick, half my wardrobe is smart denim! ;) I will rain and stain, its the way forward.

If it has nothing to do with the leather being treated or not, treating it again won't help. Your denim isn't colorfast.

This isn't much help from them. I've worn jeans with my baby pink cough (coach) saffiano bag and no transfer at all, worn jeans with my mk leather luggage bag and had transfer. Luckily I conditioned/protectant on my luggage bag so the stains came right out. This email wasn't much help, lol. I'll just treat all my bags and hope for the best!

I think they are just trying to play it safe when it comes to warranty and so on by not giving a more definate answer. Imagine the complaints if they said treatment would guarantee no colortransfer and then it didn't work.

I totally agree with you myluvofbags, will treat and use the pink in good health :cutesy:
Dark Khaki is holding up well untreated!

I think you're right Norwegian Girl. :hugs: I was hoping I wasn't the first to ask the question and they might have a tested answer for us loyal customers. I will treat and enjoy the pink. My jeans have all been through the wash loads. It's a wonder there's any colour left in them! DH suggested I just buy a blue bag next then there should be no problem....:beach:

Color transfer totally sucks. I bought some simple wipes because a lot of girls seem to have some success using them. I'll store them in a zip lock and have them on hand just in case. I'm not really a Jean type of girl. The issue would be my coat. Sounds like another reason to go shopping 😆💳💲👚👡

LOL! :lolots: Any excuse to go shopping. :graucho:

A little off topic...I have been thinking about getting a bag in the new Pale Blue color. Do you think that jean color transfer would be bad on this color if I treated the bag? TIA

As stated earlier by MK's SA I don't think treating the bag will do much to avoid colortransfer. I think it's better to avoid wearing dark colored clothes with light colored bags. Or at least wash the jeans several times to avoid them bleeding color. I have a pale blue Selma and avoid wearing it with jeans unless I have a long jacket so the bag doesn't rub against the jeans.

+1
I agree with Norwegian Girl.

I've taken some positive action today. Ordered a couple of Leather protector wipes from Radley, an established English brand of handbags. Going to arrive tomorrow. I'm going to treat the Pink and Dark Khaki with them. Fingers crossed for a happy outcome! I thought wipes over a protector spray would be good so that I don't get it on the GHW. Also MK doesn't sell any leather protector products in the UK at all.

Okay girls, I am sooo glad I am a better safe than sorry kinda girl. I just got back from a 3 day trip to Syracuse. I used my lovely traveler messenger non stop for a day and a night. This mornings I was applying some conditioner to my bags before putting them back in dust bag and I am so glad I did. My traveler had a bunch of color transfer that I didn't notice until I looked at the cloth. I feel like I dodged bullet. I had previously applied conditioner and rain and stain repellant, so everything looks great! I am glad that I took the time to care for my bags before using and after. I will never forget to follow these steps because it saved my bag! My bag looks good as new! I attached the after clean up and a picture of the dye on the rag.

Good for you. I always pre-treat my soft leather bags before use. :smile1:
