hi, long time lurker but i finally made an account to share my experience! little background: i’ve been wanting a rhinoplasty since I was in middle school and now i finally have the big girl money to do it
i didn’t want a dramatic change— my goal was to enhance my nose. my biggest concern was my bulbous tip and that i didn’t like how wide my nose was upon smiling.
after a lot of research and digging, i decided to go with cocoline clinic. at first i was kind of worried as there are not a lot of reviews here on purseforum. but there are a lot of reviews on the gangnam unni (a korean app. looks like cocoline is more popular amongst locals vs the international crowd. but it seems like they want to appeal to more foreigners based on their instagram). also, the before and after photos on their ig/website were very much up my alley— very natural.
what i really liked was how small and intimate the clinic was. i’ve watched a lot of videos of the big clinics and honestly with all the people there it seemed too chaotic and scared me LOL. cocoline was very warm, calm and comfortable. and though it is a smaller clinic, they have a fully staffed team who are all super attentive and efficient. dr. kim is the only doctor who operates here and is an ent specialist, which put me even more at ease. i need my nose to be cute and functional lol.
i initially contacted the clinic through whatsapp to discuss rhinoplasty. due to time constraints (american pto rahhh), i booked the consultation and surgery for the same day and sent over a deposit. i know, super risky for me to book without even going to an in person consult, but i did do online consultations with other clinics and i just wasn’t vibing with them. cocoline responded quickly and followed up with me a lot before i even booked, as well as after i booked leading up to the surgery. i liked this a lot because i never felt abandoned.
the person i spoke with initially was no longer translating for cocoline, but jude (who is very popular on this forum) met me for my appointment. i felt that jude and the consultant eunjung studied up before i arrived because we were all on the same page about what i wanted before i even said anything. made me feel like i was in good hands and not just another operation. one random thing i appreciated was that everyone at the clinic had great eye contact— even though i had no idea what they were saying it was nice to feel like they were talking TO me.
met with dr. kim who was very candid and honest with his suggestions. i agreed to most of his suggestions but rejected some and he was completely understanding. i showed reference pics of noses i liked and didn’t like, which i think helped a lot with getting us on the same page. he made it clear that i couldn’t have the EXACT nose in my reference photos, and i told him good because i didn’t want that exact nose. again, my goal was to keep my nose but make it better. he also made it clear that although he will follow my nose inspo pics, there are certain limitations within my own anatomy. this again put me at ease because for me it was nice to hear that he was considering not only aesthetics but also what made sense with the actual structure of my nose. side note; dr. kim said he liked my personality so we’re basically besties💅🏻
background: i am south east asian with a lower, wider nose. we agreed to shave a little of my bump, bulbous tip correction, lower my columella, and lift my alars. i rejected the option of a silicone implant and he felt that i didn’t need alarplasty. i was quoted 6mil krw. this price is for everything related to the procedure including medications/cleaning solutions/bruise cream, translation service, office visits, and a box of pumpkin juice. not sure what else is to come as i’m still recovering.
next thing i knew i was dressed, laying on the table, stuck with an IV and knocked OUT lmao. jude told me he would be there when i woke up, and that exactly happened. woke up to jude and a nurse offering me water. throat was a little dry, but nothing crazy and it went away after drinking some water. i read a lot of people had an issue with a sore throat post op due to mouth breathing but i was okay. honestly hardest part was trying to open my eyes post op because the lights felt bright. jude and i chatted for a bit and then i walked home LOL. insane to walk home after a surgery i know but i had no issues (even without glasses).
i’m currently still recovering— will post again with my day to day recovery entries and once i’m one month post op. i found those super helpful to prepare for my own surgery. i think the next battle for me is being okay with walking outside with this nose cast🥲
